The QPS PPS Adapter is a hardware extension manufactured by QPS to be used with the Acquisition Software. It has the possibility to receive a TTL pulse that can be used for PPS (Pulse-Per-Second) support.
The QPS PPS Adapter only supports one in-port that can receive a TTL pulse (FIX-TLL). The TTL signal pulse is defined as a signal that ranges from 0V to 5V. The standard PPS-TTL device does not work if the TTL pulse does not rise above 3V.

A QPS License dongle is a type of hardware license key that provides copy protection for QPS software, such as Qinsy, Qimera, and Fledermaus FMGT.
The dongle is used to unlock software, data, or content without needing to be connected to a server or cloud service.
QPS applications currently support Softlock and HASP Dongle licenses that are fully integrated into the License Status Dialog.
The License Manager 1.9 Documentation by QPS provides a guide on how to activate and install a Softlock License Server using the command line.

Mouse
2 Button with Scroll Wheel, 3 button mouse or trackpad with equivalent functionality.
Storage
Minimum of 9 GB of free space on the system drive
If you opt to install Qinsy on another drive, you will still need 7 GB of free space on the system drive,
this is because Geodetics, ENCs, etc. are still installed on the C drive
Q: What happens when you install the program with a release date beyond the expiry date of your Support & Maintenance agreement?
A: During installation of the new version, the previous version will be uninstalled automatically.
When you then try to start the new version you may be notified that 'The Support and Maintenance period is expired'. You will then have to re-install a version released prior to the expiry date of the Support & Maintenance.
When you don't have access to the Internet or do not have a backup of the previous version at hand, you might run into trouble.
Q: Which options are available when acquiring software licenses?
1. Perpetual Software License
The user will purchase the software and become the software license owner.
The software license comes with 1-year Annual Support.
Those without valid Annual Support shall not have access to QPS Support.
After the first year, the user can renew the Annual Support for the purchased license (optional).
The user will be notified one (1) month before the end of the Annual Support.
The Annual Support scheme includes:
Free minor version updates. Major upgrades (e.g. Qinsy 9 to Qinsy 10) are not included.
For bugs reported during the annual support period, QPS will decide on a case-to-case basis, at its sole discretion on a best-effort basis, if it is a bug that requires to be fixed, and if so, a fix may be provided.
Annual Support renewals commence from the expiration of your latest support period, regardless of when the Annual Support renewal was purchased.
Annual Support not renewed in the last 2 years means a loss of license and shall not be renewed.
2. Yearly Software Subscription
Subscription price is for twelve (12) months only.
The user will not become the owner of the software.
With an active subscription, the user has access to the latest major and minor software releases.
The subscription period will start when QPS sends the activation code.
The software will notify the user one (1) month before the end of the subscription period that it is ending.
Without subscription renewal, the software will stop working at the end of the subscription period.
It is not possible to have a subscription for a single add-on.
Downgrading a subscription license is not possible.
3. Software Rental
QPS offers only one (1) type of rental license for Qinsy, Qimera Fledermaus, and FMGeocoder that contains all options and add-ons.
The rental price is per week or month.
The rental period will start when QPS (or reseller) sends the activation code.
With an active rental, the user has access to the latest software releases.
It is not possible to rent a single add-on on a perpetual or subscription license, only complete licenses are available for renting.
Rental licenses will be supplied with a soft lock license. In case a USB dongle is required, QPS charges the current dongle price.
What is the difference between Softlock license and Hardlock (dongle) license?
QPS has majorly two types of licenses: Softlock and Hardlock (dongle) license
Softlock License:
Definition: A soft lock license is a software-based licensing mechanism. It is tied to a specific computer or hardware configuration.
Activation: The license is activated using a license key or file provided by the software vendor. This key is often tied to the hardware ID of the computer.
Portability: Since the license is tied to the computer, it is not easily transferable to another machine. If you need to move the license to a different computer, you may need to deactivate it on the original machine and reactivate it on the new one, often requiring assistance from the vendor.
Usage: Softlock licenses are convenient for users who primarily work on a single machine and do not need to frequently switch between different computers.
Hardlock (Dongle) License:
Definition: A hardlock (dongle) license is a hardware-based licensing mechanism. It uses a physical USB dongle to store and manage the license.
Activation: The license is stored on the USB dongle, and the software will only run when the dongle is plugged into the computer.
Portability: The dongle can be easily moved between different computers, making it highly portable. This is particularly useful for users who need to run the software on multiple machines or in different locations.
Usage: Hardlock (dongle) licenses are ideal for users who need flexibility and mobility, allowing them to use the software on any compatible computer simply by plugging in the dongle.
Please be aware that QPS does not advise the use of soft lock licenses on vessels that work offshore as an internet connection is required for a license check every 90 days. When this check cannot be executed, the software will stop working. For these vessels, we advise the use of HASP dongles as this is a more robust solution. Softlocks are more suitable for office environments or smaller nearshore and inshore operations where an internet connection can easily be established.
