H. Xavier Jara


I am Research Officer at the International Inequalities Institute (III) at the London School of Economics. Prior to joining the LSE, I worked as Research Fellow the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Essex.

I am also co-founder of the network on Welfare and Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean (WAPLAC).

I obtained my PhD in Economics at the University of Leuven.

I work in the fields of public, labour and development economics and specialize in the study of poverty and inequality, the redistributive effect of tax-benefit policies, labour supply and well-being measurement.
