Membership is open to everyone who loves to sing, and we do not require auditions. If you enjoy singing, then you should join the Huron Valley Harmonizers!
Visit as many as 10 times, and if you are enjoying it we'll look for you to become a full member!
Once you become a member of the Harmonizers:
You'll gain access to our complete library (120+ songs!) of sheet music and learning tracks. Learning tracks are voicepart-predominant recordings of a song that will help you learn your music. They are also just a lot of fun to sing along with!
New members receive two chorus shirts with our logo embroidered on them, which we wear when we perform in public and at competitions.
You will also be a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international singing organization that represents a truly historic legacy. The Huron Valley chapter is just one among a collection of hundreds of choruses and quartets spread across the country and the world. If you travel to another town that has a BHS chorus, they'll be thrilled to have you stop in and sing with them!
You can take part in the BHS-sponsored educational events and conventions we regularly attend. Every spring, for example, we compete in the Pioneer District chorus competition, along with 6-12 other choruses from all over the state of Michigan and lower Ontario.
Every other month, you will receive our Barbershop Harmony Society’s magazine called The Harmonizer. It is a great publication with news about chapters/choruses all around the world. Plus, it always highlights a variety of singing techniques.
Members receive a discount on merchandise, music, and events purchased from the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Your membership dues help to support the Barbershop Harmony Society, our Pioneer District, and most important of all: our chapter and chorus. Those dues support the educational events we take part in, as well as the expenses involved in purchasing music, learning tracks, paying for our rehearsal space & insurance, and much more.
Dues
Annual dues to be a member of the Harmonizers come to $250 (about $5 per rehearsal!), and there's an option for paying dues on a monthly basis.
