Household air pollution is a reality in any home. And since most families, especially those with young children stay home the most, it is important that the breathing air is as healthy as can be.
The San Diego HVAC Contractors’ Association (SDHCA) says, the HVAC system has a lot to do with indoor air quality. According to the SDHCA it is them very important to make careful use, and properly maintain this home system to ensure the whole household’s better health.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency for instance shared in its official website how HVAC systems can contribute to an improved air quality at home.
“Most residential forced air-heating systems and air-conditioning systems do not bring outdoor air into the house mechanically, and infiltration and natural ventilation are relied upon to bring outdoor air into the home. Advanced designs for new homes are starting to add a mechanical feature that brings outdoor air into the home through the HVAC system. Some of these designs include energy efficient heat recovery ventilators to mitigate the cost of cooling and heating this air during the summer and winter.”

Causes of poor indoor air quality
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explained the sources of poor indoor air quality. In their official website they explained what can happened when there is exposure to such indoor air pollutants.
“Poor indoor air quality comes from many sources. It can lead to suffering from lung diseases such as asthma. It can also cause headaches, dry eyes, nasal mucus, nausea and tiredness. People who already have lung problems have a greater chance of having these symptoms. Common Indoor Air Pollutants: (1) Molds; (2) Pollen; (3) Dander from pet fur; (4) Secondhand smoke; (5) Formaldehyde; (6) Fumes emitted by imported drywall; (7) Carbon monoxide that comes from burning propane, other gases and fuels, and charcoal; (8) Household products such as cleaners and pesticides.”

The SDHCA says choosing the right HVAC system can help improve indoor air quality as newer models now can help bring in fresh air from the outside. Adequate fresh air and ventilation after all, helps a lot in improving air quality around the home.
The San Diego HVAC Contractors’ Association also reminds homeowners to air out their homes regularly by opening up windows and doors from time to time and when the weather permits. http://reliablestandard.com/
