이중희 교수팀, 초고효율 수소생산 위한 저렴한 촉매 제조 기술 개발

Professor Jong Hee Lee's team (Department of BIN Convergence Engineering, Graduate School) is drawing attention from academia around the world by developing a catalyst that can produce hydrogen with high efficiency and low cost, which has recently been receiving a lot of attention worldwide.

This research, which was conducted with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT's Mid-level Researcher Support Project and the Ministry of Education's BK-21 Plus Project, was conducted in Applied Catalysis B-Environmental, the world's best academic journal in the field of catalysts (IF=11.698) published in the latest issue of

One Step Closer to Hydrogen Economy

Not only South Korea but many other countries in the world have been making an effort to transition to a hydrogen economy, for long term energy storage and long distance transport of low-carbon energy.

However, the amount of hydrogen that can be produced using conventional methods is limited because they mainly use by-product hydrogen gas from crude oil refinement or modify natural gas at high temperatures.

It is also hard to say the methods are ‘completely clean’ because they use fossil fuels that generate carbon dioxide.

Van Hien Hoa, Duy Thanh Tran, Huu Tuan Le, Nam Hoon Kim and Joong Hee Lee participated in the research, with support from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Ministry of Education.
