Since improper folding of protein leads to aggregation, it is often found that the glycation of protein also promotes aggregation that leads to amyloidosis. Advanced glycated end products (AGEs) are formed from the reaction of different sugars with proteins. Several proteins are found to be glycated such as lysozyme,tau,beta-amyloid,alpha-synuclein. My core area of interest is in analysing glycation of different protein which are commonly associated with diseases and understanding the mechanism of protein interaction with different sugars and how these sugars play an important role in AGE formation and AGE associated complications.
