HuskyGC Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
HuskyGC is an unofficial browser extension that presents Blackboard courses in a Google Classroom-style interface. This policy covers the HuskyGC extension. The current version supports UConn Blackboard sites. HuskyGC is not affiliated with Google, UConn, Blackboard, or Canvas.
Information the extension accesses
When you use HuskyGC while signed in to Blackboard, it accesses information available to your account to display and organize your courses. This may include:
Your name, Blackboard user identifier, student ID, email address, and profile image.
Course names, sections, instructors, classmates, and roster profile information.
Assignments, instructions, due dates, participation requirements, submission status, grades, and instructor feedback.
Announcements, activity notifications, course content, attachments, syllabuses, schedules, and course banners.
Your selected settings, class order, instructor choices, colors, notification read status, and reminders marked as done.
Files or images you choose to upload for local syllabus previews, banners, or profile customization.
HuskyGC uses the Blackboard page and its authenticated APIs. It does not ask for or record your password. Requests use your existing signed-in browser session. The extension’s cookie permission reads Blackboard’s BbRouter cookie to obtain an anti-forgery token needed for activity notifications; that token is used with Blackboard, not sent to the developer.
How information is used
Information is used to provide the extension’s features: showing courses and grades, displaying content and feedback, organizing deadlines, identifying reminders from announcements and course content, opening the corresponding Blackboard page, and remembering your preferences. Reminder detection and document processing run locally; the extension does not send course materials to an AI service.
HuskyGC does not sell user data, use it for advertising, or collect browsing history from unrelated websites. The extension does not include developer-operated analytics or tracking services. Course information is not uploaded to a developer-operated server.
Local storage and Chrome Sync
The extension caches course information and saves preferences in browser storage. Saved files and document previews may also be kept in the Blackboard site’s browser storage. These caches can persist between visits and do not have a guaranteed automatic deletion period.
Selected small preferences use Chrome Sync when available: display settings, class order, instructor choices, icon colors, and supported completion markers. Sync records may contain course, instructor, or assignment identifiers, as well as an account-scoped identifier derived from the Blackboard origin and user identifier. Google handles Chrome Sync under its own privacy practices and your browser settings.
Grades, assignment instructions, announcements, course documents, uploaded syllabuses, profile photos, and custom banner images are not intentionally included in the extension’s Chrome Sync preference records. Large uploaded files remain on the device.
Connections to Blackboard and other services
The extension retrieves course information and files from Blackboard and the content providers used by your courses. Your institution and Blackboard continue to handle information under their own policies.
Course content can include images, links, or embedded media from third parties, including YouTube and Vimeo. Loading or interacting with that content may send your IP address, browser information, and applicable cookies to the provider. Those providers’ privacy policies apply. HuskyGC does not control external course content or linked websites.
Sharing and support
The developer does not receive course data through routine extension use. If you contact support, the developer receives the email, screenshots, files, and other information you choose to send and uses them to respond and troubleshoot. Avoid sending passwords, session tokens, or unnecessary student records. Support correspondence may remain in the support mailbox; you can request deletion by email.
HuskyGC does not transfer personal information for advertising, sale, creditworthiness decisions, or unrelated purposes. Its use of user data is limited to providing or improving the features described here and complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Your choices and deleting data
You can change or reset supported appearance settings and remove an uploaded syllabus using the extension’s controls. Disable or uninstall HuskyGC to stop its access to Blackboard.
Uninstalling normally removes extension-local storage from that browser profile, but may not remove data stored under the Blackboard website or copies retained by browser synchronization. To remove website-stored caches, clear site data for your Blackboard domains in the browser; this can also sign you out and remove Blackboard’s own local settings. Manage or reset Chrome Sync separately through Chrome’s settings if you want to remove synchronized preferences. Other devices may retain local copies until you clear them there as well.
HuskyGC’s personal completion markers and uploaded customization files are separate from official Blackboard submissions and records. Clearing HuskyGC data does not delete your institution’s grades or submitted work.
Security
Blackboard API requests use HTTPS and your existing session. Local browser storage and Chrome Sync are not a guarantee against access by someone who can use your device or browser profile. Protect your device, browser account, and institutional account, especially on shared computers.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated when the extension’s data handling changes. The revised policy will show a new update date. New services or materially different data uses will be disclosed before they are introduced.
