Questions frequently asked...
Do you do carbon monoxide testing on the heater?
Yes. Included in the heater service.
Do you do negative air pressure testing on a gas wall heater?
Yes. this is now required on all existing naturally drafted flued room heaters.
How often do you recommend I should service my heater?
At least every 2 years is what is recommended by Energy Safe Victoria. ESV has been running an awareness campaign to show the importance of regularly servicing your gas heater and testing for carbon monoxide. especially in the case of gas wall heaters.
Why service an evaporative cooler?
Evaps need to be serviced , checked and cleaned in order to provide effective reliable cooling for your home.
How often do you recommend I should service my evap?
Every 2 years.
What’s this stuff coming out of the vents? I think birds are nesting in my evap.
The solution is to rectify any damage, service the evap, and install bird guard. It’s not recommended to use your evap until this is done.
Can I service or repair my evap myself?
No. There are too many dangers involved and you need to be qualified and experienced.
Can I repair or service my gas heater myself?
Nope. Don't touch it. Generally resetting a heater is ok, but if problems persist get it looked at by a professional.
Do you do 2 storey homes?
Yes still doing double storey homes for now.
Do you do steep roofs?
If you feel your roof may be inappropriate to safely work on please let me know on booking the job so I can check it out on Google maps. I have ladders and a safety harness but sometimes evaps are put where they shouldn’t be (on steep roofs). Servicing and abseiling are two different things.
What happens if it rains at the booked time to service my evaporative cooler on my roof?
The job would have to be postponed for safety reasons.
You specialize in servicing and repairing Bonaire, Celair, Vulcan and Pyrox Gas Heaters and Evaporative Coolers. Do you service other brands of gas heaters / evaporative coolers?
Yes. Including Brivis, Braemar, Breezeair and Coolbreeze.
Are there any gas heaters you don't service?
I do service, but no longer repair Stadt heaters or Aqumiser evap coolers. Also I'm notifying customers - if a brivis heater has cracks in the heat exchanger, then these heaters now require replacing for safety reasons. I don't service Lenox heaters - they are more industrial. For room display gas fires its now best to contact the manufacturers or purchase place from where it was bought.
What happens if the heater or evap requires replacing?
I may give a quote replace the heater or evap cooler if its found to be not suitable for repair. Because I work on my own, I can only replace wall heaters, external heaters, and single storey evap coolers. I leave the in roof and double storey installs for installation companies.
I do repair ducts in roofs when required, but I now don't do ducts or outlet replacements. I no longer do full installs of heaters, evap coolers or wall splits. All the gear in my van is now for servicing and the repairs of gas heaters and evap coolers.
Do you do free quotes for repairs?
No - The call out for servicing and repairs is always chargable. An inspection fee may apply in certain circumstances otherwise. Please note that 'free quotes no charge' generally only applies to installation companies replacing units - not for legitimate servicing companies.
What is your pricing?
Contact me for the current pricing, and I'll send it through.
What’s the warranty on new parts?
There’s a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty on all new parts that I supply.
Electronic re-conditioned parts, if available, also have a 1 year warranty on that part.
