What Is VEX Robotics?

VEX Robotics is a educational program in which you design and build a robot to perform a series of tasks starting with a 15 second autonomous program, where you program your robot to perform these tasks autonomously. Next is a 1:45 second driver control where you drive your robot around with controllers.

The VRC program started in 2007 with its first season Bridge Battle and has been providing fun challenges ever since, such as the current season Tower Takeover.

How to Join VEX:

Look around for teams in your area or school for possible openings (RobotEvents.com is a good source). If not use the steps below to start your own team!

1. Read "How to Start" guide from the REC Foundation
2. Organize students, mentors and create a budget
3. Identify funding sources, plan fundraising activities, apply for grants
4. Register your new team on RobotEvents.com
5. ​Purchase parts from VEX (we recommend starting with a V5 competition starter kit and 4 extra V5 motors, or a V5 competition super kit, and an extra V5 battery)
6. Start building as well as documenting your design, build and coding processes in your engineering notebook
