Hunter Pearson

Assistant Professor of Accounting, University of Houston

I am an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Houston's C. T. Bauer College of Business.

I use financial archival methods to research firm disclosure. Specifically, I study firms' use of strategic voluntary disclosure and the real effects of mandatory reporting. I am also interested in the determinants and consequences of innovation-related disclosure.

I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business in 2025. Prior to that, I received a B.B.A. in Accounting and Business Honors and a Master of Financial Management from Texas A&M University in 2020.

When I'm not researching, I enjoy playing pickleball, watching sports, and discovering Costco's latest frozen food offerings.
