My family is considered to be “The American Dream.” There are four people in my family including me. There is my father Thomas, my mother Wendy, my younger sister Gracyn, and then there is me. Before we adopted Gracyn, there were only my parents and me in our family. Ever since we’ve adopted her though, it’s been nice to have someone to pester when I’m bored or to have a second person doing chores around the house. I’d say that I have a pretty strong bond with both of my parents in certain ways. With my father, we both like to hunt and fish and like the outdoors as well as traveling and history. Where as my mother and I both like to just relax when we can, and we also don’t like huge crowds of people all in the same place. We both also like traveling, and we like the mountains especially the Colorado Rockies.
During my high school career, I would probably say I was an average or slightly above average student. I got mostly A’s and B’s throughout high school with the exception of Algebra 2 which was a C. When it comes to learning things in school, I just can’t pay attention long enough to a long boring lecture or taking tests or just reading, I have to be doing something hands on or something with the real world to really understand and learn. Most of my classes until my senior year were business related or Math or English or History of some sort, but my senior year has basically all been hands on real world classes that will really benefit me later in life. This year I am taking College English at the high school through Highland Community College and I really think it has been a great class and a good benefit for my college schooling. I plan on attending Southeast Community College in Beatrice Nebraska for two years to get my Gen Eds out of the way and then I plan on transferring to Kansas State or Wichita State to get my masters in business administration or entrepreneurship. A couple of good friends I know are also going to be there for two years just getting our feet in the door of the college life.
Like previously stated I, plan on attending Kansas State or Wichita State to purse of my masters in business administration. Once I’m done with college, I’m not 100% sure if I want to take over our family business, Schendel Pest Control here in town, or start my own handyman business after a couple of years. Overall, I want to be my own boss and business owner. I know there are lots of great people and bosses out there, but I like to work under my own rules and how I want to do the work. I want to be my own boss because it allows me to travel the world when I want if possible, and it sets up my future to be financially stable if I can run a business correctly. Throughout high school, I have taken multiple business classes, and I’ve also talked to my father and grandfather who have both owned the business about business skills and other small details. I’ve been working for my father at Schendel for the past eight or nine years now doing all sorts of ods and end jobs. When I was younger, I always wanted to be an astronaut or fireman or something cool along those lines. As I’ve gotten older and as I’ve worked for my dad and grandfather over the past eight to nine years, I’ve really gained an interest in being my own boss and a business owner.
