Frequently Asked Questions
How do I place a waypoint on the map?
Open the Hunt Map tab and tap one of the waypoint buttons:
- Shot
- First Blood
- Last Blood
The waypoint will be saved using your current GPS location. Distance and bearing information for saved waypoints are displayed on the map screen.
Why is the map not loading?
The map requires an internet connection the first time you visit an area so map tiles can be downloaded and cached.
If the map appears blank:
- Check your internet connection
- Restart the app
- Make sure HuntTrail has permission to use cellular data
On iOS or iPadOS:
Settings → Cellular → HuntTrail → ON
My GPS position seems inaccurate.
GPS accuracy can vary depending on terrain, weather conditions, nearby obstacles, satellite visibility, and your device hardware.
For best results:
- Move to an open outdoor area with a clear view of the sky
- Wait 30–60 seconds for GPS stabilization
- Enable Precise Location
On iOS or iPadOS:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → HuntTrail → Precise Location → ON
How do I use Track Lens?
Open the Track Lens tab and grant camera access when prompted.
Track Lens provides a real-time filtered camera view intended as a visual aid for improving contrast around field signs, tracks, red tones, dark tones, and low-contrast surfaces.
It does not guarantee detection accuracy and should not be relied on as the sole method for identifying or locating field signs.
You can adjust filter intensity directly within the feature controls.
Can I use animal calls offline?
Yes. Animal calls included with HuntTrail are bundled directly within the app and can be played without an internet connection.
I accidentally denied camera or location permissions.
On iOS or iPadOS:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera or Location Services → HuntTrail → Enable permission
Is my hunting data shared with anyone?
No. Waypoints, settings, and saved field data remain stored locally on your device.
We do not operate servers that store your hunting history or waypoint data.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID.
On iOS or iPadOS:
Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → HuntTrail
Deleting the app does not automatically cancel an active subscription.
