Hunar is a skill-sharing and learning community platform where users in Tajikistan and beyond can teach, learn, and showcase traditional and modern crafts, professional skills, cooking, music, languages, and more through photos, videos, and text.
We respect your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
Account information: phone number or email, name/username, profile photo, bio, and the skills you teach or want to learn.
Content you create: photos and videos of your projects, tutorials, workshops, or crafts you upload.
Messages you send to other users or instructors.
Device info: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address.
Usage data: which lessons you view, which instructors you follow, search terms, and how you interact with the app.
Location (optional): approximate location from IP address or precise location only if you allow it (used to show nearby workshops or teachers).
Advertising identifier (GAID / IDFA) — used for analytics and to show you relevant ads.
Crash logs and performance data — to fix bugs and improve the app.
When you set a profile picture or upload content showing your work:
You can take a new photo with the camera → we only access the camera when you tap “Take Photo”.
Or choose an existing photo/video from your gallery → we only access your photo library when you tap “Choose from Gallery”.
- We never access your entire photo library – only the single photo/video you explicitly select.
Examples:
A woodworking teacher takes a photo of a finished chair using the in-app camera and uploads it to their lesson.
A cooking instructor selects a saved video from their gallery to add to a recipe tutorial.
An embroidery artist takes a photo of a traditional Tajik pattern to share with students.

Ads may be personalized based on your activity.
You can opt out at any time:
Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking → Allow Apps to Request to Track (or disable)
On iOS, we will request your permission via App Tracking Transparency (ATT) before tracking your activity across other apps and websites. If you deny, ads will be less personalized but the app works normally.
We do NOT sell your personal information.
We only share data with:
Other Hunar users — who can see your public profile and lessons
Trusted service providers (Google Firebase, Meta, cloud hosting) under strict contracts
Law enforcement when required by Tajik or international law
Your data may be transferred and stored outside your country (e.g., EU servers).
When this happens, we use appropriate safeguards:
