We are a part of the Certified Naturally Grown community, a grassroots alternative to US Department of Agriculture's Organic Program. I do not believe in using synthetic chemicals, but I also believe you SHOULD NOT take MY word for it! See our inspection reports and/or visit us to see for yourself.
Humble Vine Farm's Hierarchy of Values
Quality
Standard Operating Procedures at Humble Vine Farm are based on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) guidelines for all production, sanitation, and handling of your food. Produce is harvested and sold at peak quality and minimally handled before it reaches your hands.
Environment
These days, it is fairly common for people and businesses to talk a great talk when it comes to "environmental friendliness" and “organic.” At Humble Vine Farm, we understand the connections between the environment and our future. Clean water, air, and food start with you and I, today, and right now. The environment is in-fact, one of the main reasons for this farm's existence. Beyond the absence of all synthetically derived chemicals in production practices, ecological impact is assessed with every decision on this farm. Water is conserved through applying it directly to the ground below the plants and only when needed. Wildlife habitat is increased and flowers are managed in order to keep a consistent source of food for pollinators. Fossil fuels are used minimally and little bit of solar and compost heat where possible. Removing unwanted pests by hand are primary means of pest management (instead of drenching in nonselective pesticides, regardless if approved by Organic standards). Education about what effective methods we have discovered and support are readily shared. Financial means may prohibit the ideal scenario or choice for packaging or materials around the farm but, as the business grows, so will the effort to support the natural systems around us while providing food for this community.
Community
When I first decided I wanted to grow food here in Northeast Georgia, a fellow farmer looked me straight in the eyes and said I won't be able to make a living by selling to this community. I would love to prove him wrong. I choose to sell to my local and rural community because I believe in my products and I want everyone who eats this food to be as close to their farmer as possible. You CAN support local farms no matter your income and I look forward to sharing the importance of local and chemical free food with you! Guests are welcome on Sundays and we try to have an organized and fun get-together on the last Sunday of the month. We would like to see small farms be a meeting place for leisure, community, beauty, and health! Bring your work gloves and roll up your sleeves or bring the swimsuit and a basket to fill with food from Humble Vine Farm.
