Capoeira is a Brazilian art form based on many dimensions of human culture; martial arts, music, history, dance and sport.
These components coalesce into the game of capoeira which is truly unique in its expression.
Humboldt Capoeira has been a part of our community for close to 20 years, in various forms and iterations, with a wide range of instructors, professors and a few masters at the helm throughout those 20 years.
The longest period of history of the group has been under Mestre Canguru and Professora Sarará. They have since relocated to Monterrey and Santa Rosa, respectively.
Currently, classes are being offered by Instrutor Louva Deus. The group is operating on a general consensus-based process to make administrative and major group decisions.
Since the beginning of the disruptions associated with COVID, we have operated in various modes; Zoom, outdoors on a soccer field, back inside the studio with masks and outside in the late fall air in the parking lot and cross-training around our little town.
We can't wait to get back to our usual training regiment but alas this is out of our control.
