Abstract
Abstract
This talk presents a study on Hong Kong secondary students' perceptions of learning to write with ChatGPT. Students from four schools have participated in the 2023-24 Human-AI Creative Writing Contest for Hong Kong Secondary Schools. They attended a free workshop at their school where they learned a writing approach and how ChatGPT can support completion of a writing task according to that approach. Students showed post-workshop gains in motivation, satisfaction, and reduced cognitive load—promising signs for EFL instruction enhancement.
