My journey has taken me across the globe — I grew up in Pakistan and moved to Costa Rica at 15. At United World College in Costa Rica, I connected with students from around the globe and completed my International Baccalaureate Diploma. Initially, I leaned towards STEM-based education, but as I explored further, I became interested in social sciences, mainly anthropology and political science.

After UWC, I was accepted to Bennington College in Vermont on a full scholarship to pursue my bachelor's degree. My undergraduate experience overwhelmingly dealt with political and socio-cultural dynamics across Muslim nations in South Asia and the wider global south. I have researched different nations in South Asia to examine the colonial and imperial legacies and how these historical events and transformations constitute the present socio-political and cultural phenomenon.

My undergraduate experience also consisted of a study abroad in Seville, Spain. Seville, the capital of Andalucía, is abundant with Mudéjar art and architecture, which symbolize the link between Muslims, Jews, and Christians. Studying abroad in Seville gave me a deeper perspective on the early Islamic civilization.

After graduation, I joined The Legal Aid Society as a paralegal case handler in New York City. My work at the Legal Aid Society mainly involved advocacy for non-privileged New Yorkers. My main responsibilities included screening clients while providing advice and direct assistance. I worked with staff attorneys to resolve the government benefits issues involved with housing practice cases while handling a high volume of individual cases and responding to the needs of community-based organizations.
