Dr Ünlü completed her B.Sc. degree in Econometrics at Gazi University in 2008. She was awarded a scholarship given by the Ministry of National Education (MONE) to pursue a graduate degree in the United Kingdom. In 2010, she completed her MSc in Financial Economics and Econometrics in the Department of Economics at the University of Essex, and after her return to the country, she started her academic carrier at Çankırı Karatekin University. She received her PhD with a thesis in the field of Financial Obstacles and Innovation from the Department of Banking and Finance at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University in 2016. In 2017, she became an assistant professor at Çankırı Karatekin University–Department of Economics. She served on the Editorial Board of the Cankiri Karatekin University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences during 2017-2019. She served as Co-Head of the Economics Department at Çankırı Karatekin University from 2016 to 2018. She was the Head of the Department of Economic Theory from 2019-2023. She was a deputy manager of the Center for Women's Studies at Çankırı Karatekin University. She is a member of the Triple Helix Association. 

Since 2022, she has been the field editor of the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Çankırı Karatekin University in the fields of economics and econometrics.

In February 2023, she received the title of Associate Professor of Econometrics from the Higher Education Council of Turkey.

She has many national and international scientific studies and book chapters published in the fields of innovation, finance, and econometrics.
