Hugo Forte Sclebin

Hi! My name is Hugo. I'm a game programmer and aspiring VFX artist. Currently, I'm studying computer science at UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) and am a member of GDP (UFRJ's game development group) since 2019. I'm also enrolled in VFX Apprentice's online course so as to become a professional VFX artist.

I'll place all the games I've made here (whether it has been finished or not) and explain a bit about the process of each one of them.

Legboy (2021 - Present)

GDP game project

Early Build Download Link: link (Please, keep in mind this is an early build, so bugs may happen)

Twitter: @LegboyGame

Gameplay: Short clip

Tools: Unity, FMOD

Platform: Windows

Language: Brazillian Portuguese (English version will be made in the future)

My functions: Programming, Tech Art, Art implementation and Sound implementation using FMOD

"Legboy" is my second big project as a member of GDP. The game designer of "Legboy" had the initial idea to make a simple platformer with a differential mechanic of wallrunning on background walls, and he needed someone to code it, so I took the role and it is been a great experience so far. During the production, I got myself into the world of VFX (Unity's Shader Graph, Particle System and VFX Graph) and ended up also taking the role of tech artist. We plan on making a short version of the game first to be displayed for free on itch.io and after that, we'll be focusing on a more complete and comercial version to be released on Steam's store. Its production started in February 2021.

Damn, Ants! (2020 - 2021)

Tools: Unity, FMOD

Platform: Android

Language: English

My functions: Programming, Art implementation and Sound implementation using FMOD

"Damn, Ants!" is my first project as a member of GDP. I had the idea of making a game about walking and squishing ants, so I decided to start a project and assemble a team to develop it. The sole purpose of this project was to learn new things about game development (since it's my first 3D project), so the game is completely free. Its production started in February 2020 and it was finally released on Play Store in February 2021.

The Witch-ish Show (2019)

GDP's Selective Process (2019)

Gameplay Video: youtu.be/9p6qVU-UX0c

Platform: Windows

Tools: Unity

Language: Brazillian Portuguese

My functions: Programming, Level Design and Art Implementation

"The Witch-ish Show" was made at the last GDP's selective process stage in wich the participants had to make a game under the theme "Bruxaria" (or "Witchcraft" in english) in about two months. My group and I decided to make a game about a witchcraft show without any magic. Unfortunately we had some issues during the production, so the game got delivered a bit incomplete and buggy, but it's still playable and has 3 diferent endings based on the puzzles' results. This game's development process was very important to me, since it got me in my university's (UFRJ) game development group "GDP".

Moirai (2019)

Game Jam da Semana da Computação UFRJ (2019)

Gameplay Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_8cUAUAhAU&feature=youtu.be

Download Link: https://nandofrench.itch.io/the-moirai

Platform: Windows

Tools: Unity

Language: Brazillian Portuguese

My functions: Programming, Level Design and Art and Sound Implementation

"Moirai" was made at a game jam organized by GDP during the UFRJ's annual event "Semana da Computação" under the theme "Valar Morghulis. Todos os homens devem morrer." or "Valar Morghulis. All men must die." in english. We were a group with little to no experience on game development but we managed to make a game in only 48 hours. This was the first game jam i've participated, so it was a really important experience.

Omnus (2018)

GDP's Selective Process (2018)

Gameplay Video: youtu.be/3XH_BJx88Hc

Download Link: https://gdpufrj.itch.io/omnus

Platform: Windows

Tools: Unity

Language: Brazillian Portuguese

My functions: Programming, Level Design, Art, and Sound and Art Implementation

"Omnus" was made at the last GDP's selective process stage in wich the participants had to get inspiration from an existing game and add a twist. My group and I chose to get inspiration from the Mario franchise and the twist to be the player controlling a villain instead of a hero. Unfortunately my group didn't have a visual artist, so I had to make the art myself, and we only had one month to deliver, so it's not exactly a finished game. However, this game was very important to me, since it was the first time I developed a game as a team.
