Trezor Bridge | Getting Started with Secure Device & Setup
Trezor Bridge was created to help a Trezor hardware wallet communicate with a computer, Trezor Suite, and supported web browsers. However, there is an important update for new users: standalone Trezor Bridge is now deprecated. Trezor recommends using the current Trezor Suite connection methods instead and uninstalling an older standalone Bridge installation if it interferes with device connectivity.
What Is Trezor Bridge?
Trezor Bridge was a background application that enabled communication between a Trezor device and compatible browser-based services. It was particularly useful when browser connectivity required an additional communication layer.
Today, Trezor Suite has moved toward newer connection technology, including nodeBridge and WebUSB-based connections. Therefore, users setting up a current Trezor device generally do not need to install the old standalone Trezor Bridge.

Getting Started with Trezor Suite
The recommended way to begin is to download Trezor Suite from Trezor's official website. Trezor recommends the desktop application for Linux, macOS, and Windows users because it provides enhanced privacy and functionality.
After installing Suite, connect your Trezor using a suitable data cable. The software should recognize the device and guide you through its security checks. If you are setting up a new wallet, Trezor Suite will walk you through firmware installation and the remaining onboarding steps.

Secure Your Trezor Device
Security should be the priority throughout setup. Purchase your hardware wallet from Trezor or an authorized source, and carefully inspect the packaging and device during the initial security check.
Trezor devices are shipped without firmware installed. During setup, Trezor Suite guides you through installing the appropriate official firmware. On supported devices, an authenticity check can also help verify that the hardware is genuine and has not been altered.
Never share your wallet backup with anyone. Keep the backup information offline and protected from unauthorized access. A legitimate Trezor representative will never need you to reveal your wallet backup or private credentials.
What If Trezor Is Not Detected?
If Trezor Suite does not recognize your device, first check the USB connection and make sure you are using a data-capable cable. Trezor notes that a cable can power a device without supporting data transfer.
If an old standalone Trezor Bridge installation remains on your computer, it may also cause conflicts with newer connection methods. Trezor recommends removing the deprecated standalone Bridge when necessary.
For browser-based Suite, Trezor currently supports Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera because they provide the required WebUSB functionality. Firefox and Safari are not supported for this connection method.
Complete Your Secure Setup
Once your device is recognized and initialized, Trezor Suite becomes the main interface for managing supported cryptocurrency accounts, checking balances, and approving transactions. Every important transaction should be reviewed directly on the Trezor device before confirmation.
