My research typically starts from the field, which provides essential sedimentological and stratigraphic context for more focused, hypothesis-driven investigations.
Developing testable hypotheses is perhaps one of the most intellectually challenging, yet exciting aspects of my research, requiring a holistic integration of Earth-life systems at both micro- (mineralogical) and macro- (stratigraphic, basinal, regional, and global) scales.

We live and do research on land that was originally home to several indigenous nations, including the Kaw, Osage, and Pawnee. This land was stolen from them and we acknowledge this truth. For more details, please see the K-State Land Acknowledgement.
