We understand that you may have completed college coursework at other institutions or through dual enrollment programs. Hampton University is committed to providing a clear and efficient process for evaluating your previous credits. This page outlines the transfer credit evaluation process and provides guidance on the types of courses that commonly transfer, as well as those that may require further review or may not be eligible for transfer.
Generally, Hampton University accepts general education courses completed at the 100 or 200 level with a grade of C (2.5 GPA) or higher. These courses are often foundational and provide a broad base of knowledge. Examples of courses that typically transfer include:

Introduction to Psychology
U.S. History I & II
Introduction to Sociology

Foreign Language courses
Certain courses, particularly those that are major-specific or require a high degree of specialization, generally do not transfer or may require additional review by the relevant academic department at Hampton University. This ensures that the course content and rigor align with our academic standards. Courses that commonly need further review or will not be accepted include:
Marketing
Introduction to Anthropology
Specialized Electives
Trade Certifications
Joint Services Transcripts
