The Hamburg Township Professional Firefighters Union Local 5517 encompasses the full-time Deputy Chief, Captains, and Lieutenants that work within the Hamburg Township Public Safety Department's Fire Division.
Hamburg Township is located on the south-side of Livingston County. We are the most populous township in Livingston County. We cover 36 square miles, with some unique attributes. There are over 30 named lakes within our response area, along with thousands of acres of state land/recreational areas, and 6 miles of the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail.
We currently operate with Two Engines, each staffed with one (1) full-time lieutenant and one (1) part-time firefighter out of both station 11 and station 12. In addition, there is a Captain in a command vehicle on shift. These positions are staffed 24/7/365.
Full-time Captains and Lieutenants work 24-hour shifts on a rotating schedule.
The Training Captain works a 40-hour schedule Monday - Friday, along with the Deputy Fire Chief.
During business hours Monday - Friday, the Deputy Chief and Training Captain are on shift and available to assist with calls as needed.
We also have Apprentice Firefighters on shift, placed on the engine throughout both day and night shifts.
Station 11 is located at 3666 E. M36.
Station 11 houses Engine 1, Engine 11, Tanker 11, Brush 11, the Special Response Team (Dive, Confined Space) apparatus, a rescue boat, and also houses the D.A.R.T South (Disaster Area Response Team) apparatus.
Station 12 is located at 10100 Veterans Memorial Drive.
Station 12 is home to the administrative offices, the Deputy Chiefs Office, and Captains quarters.
Station 12 also houses Engine 12, Tanker 12, Brush 12, Utility 12, Drone 1, and the Livingston County Air Trailer.
