Effective date: July 2, 2026
Codex - HTML Editor ("the App", "we", "us") is a code editor for writing, previewing, and testing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the App does and does not handle.
1. Our core principle: your code stays on your device
All projects, files, and code you create in the App are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, read, collect, or transmit your code to our servers. We do not have servers that store your content.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, or location.
We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
The App offers optional paid subscriptions and a lifetime purchase ("Pro"). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never see or store your payment card details. To manage subscriptions and unlock features across your devices, we use RevenueCat, Inc., which processes a randomly generated, anonymous purchase identifier and transaction information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. Apple's App Store handles the actual transaction under Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. SSH / SFTP connections (optional)
If you use the remote/SSH feature, any server credentials you enter are stored securely in the device Keychain and are used only to connect to the server address you specify. We do not transmit these credentials to us or any third party. You control and are responsible for the remote servers you connect to.
5. Settings and app preferences
App settings (such as theme and editor preferences) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage and are not shared with us.
6. Diagnostics
Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous crash and usage statistics if you have enabled sharing with developers in your device settings. This data cannot be used to identify you.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Data security
We use standard platform protections (on-device storage and the iOS Keychain). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but because your content stays on your device, your exposure is minimal.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. The "Effective date" above shows the latest version.
