We invite the submission of short papers, up to four pages in length (excluding references and supplementary material -- supplements are unlimited, but will be optional for the reviewers to look at). Submissions should be anonymous and in the ICML 2020 format (see the official style guidelines). As this workshop will be virtual, we plan to allot each accepted paper a five-minute, pre-recorded talk, which will be streamed during one or two sessions at set times; the accepted papers will also be made available on the workshop website. Please note that as preparation for the virtual conference evolves, the ultimate format of dissemination may change.
We will not publish archival proceedings (therefore, authors are usually permitted to submit their work to other venues). Accepted papers will be linked to from the workshop website (subsequently linked to from ICML). We welcome submissions of work-in-progress, completed work, and papers already accepted in other venues.
This workshop comes at a challenging time for healthcare providers and researchers, as we collectively grapple with the COVID-19 situation. This presents a great opportunity for us to showcase the work being done by members of our community on this pressing issue. As such, we expect a number of submissions may relate to COVID-19, and we encourage those submissions to highlight the aspects of their work along the narratives of this workshop.
Relevant topics for submissions include, but are not limited to, the application of machine learning in:
Population health; particularly related to infectious diseases, chronic diseases, and mental health
Multi-level models combining individual-level data with indicators of social conditions at the group or population level
Personalized healthcare provision beyond precision and personalized medicine
Mobile health: digital tools to integrate social determinants into patient and population health management
Wearable devices and healthcare decision support systems
On-device ML and privacy preservation in health-tech
New models of care integrating lifestyle and activity-based clinical interventions
Redefining clinical practice guidelines and the distribution of hospital resources
The fair and equitable analysis and provision of healthcare
Studies on healthcare costs and effectiveness
Additionally, we welcome scientific position papers, case studies, and review articles under the workshop theme.
