Technology Help during eLearning
11/19/2020
Make sure your student's technology is working so they can access their education!
The Family Help Desk is available M-Th from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Fridays 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
This service is scalable and additional technicians are provided as call demand increases.
Families can also enter help tickets through the student login portal at my.hsd2.org.
Our goal is to respond within 24 hours, if not the same day.
For In-person and Hybrid learners, assistance in provided remotely, if possible. If not, service is provided on campus through the site technician by appointment or in coordination with school staff, accept at the high schools, who have their 1:1 technicians and can provide walk-in service and updates.
Technicians will do all they can to assist remotely. In the event remote assistance cannot resolve the issue, families can make appts for service, updates or device swap at their school unless closed for quarantine. Additional arrangements are made if families cannot get to their school.
Service for quarantined students/schools is handled directly through our office following special protocols.
A Resource for Families with Children Who have Disabilities
7/24/2020
We have all been adjusting to the requirement that face masks be worn to keep each other safe when we are out and about in the community. We at Harrison Special Programs have been thinking a lot about our families with students who may be struggling with the requirement that a face mask be worn. In order to help our families teach their children this new skill, we are linking a couple of social story resources to help teach children how to wear a mask and why they are important. It is very likely that students will be learning to wear masks at school too! We don't want wearing a mask to be a hazard or a struggle, we hope that you will partner with us to take the approach that we can all improve mask wearing over time.
In order to implement this social story, read it frequently with your child (adjust for their developmental level, "frequently" may mean twice a day or just before big outings) and practice implementing the behaviors together at home. Then, when the behaviors are relevant (e.g. you are going out and need to wear a mask), talk about what you learned in the social story and apply it to your situation. Reach out if you need more support to implement these social stories!
Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Update!
6/26/2020
HSD2 is planning to provide both in-person and remote ESY services in July. We send an initial letter June 4, 2020 to share our ESY schedule and plan. We are able to follow our original plan and have sent out a follow up letter of confirmation this week (June 26, 2020) that you should see soon in your inbox if your child is attending in-person, along with the district's health guidelines. If your child is a remote only child, or if you have declined services, you will not receive another letter. Please reach out to 579-3241 if you have questions about ESY (Spanish available). Please call transportation at 579-4900 if you are expecting transportation and you have not heard from them regarding the pick up/drop off time for your child.
The district's ability to provide in person services may quickly change. If we are instructed to stop providing in person services, we will contact the effected parents and provide remote services instead.
See the ESY confirmation letter (June 26 2020) below, as well as the health guidelines. These will be translated to Spanish and posted ASAP.
Check back at the HSD2 COVID-19 updates page to access resources and learn of any school-related updates.
