I paint for the pleasure of putting color on paper, and to create paintings that fuse realistic images and strong abstract designs. I seek to create a design that shows why I chose the subject, the light in the scene and the color. I favor bright color and bold designs. Some of my favorite artists include John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Mary Cassat and Tiepolo.
I grew up in New York City, and enjoyed the great art museums there. I came to Toledo in 1975 to join the faculty of the Medical College of Ohio, retiring in 2012. Over the years I have attended more than 20 workshops on painting in watercolor and pastel. Currently, I paint for myself, and teach painting at the Toledo Museum of Art, The Toledo Artists' Club, and other venues in Northwest Ohio.

When you don’t know what to paint, paint anything.
[Painting, Watercolor]
A figment of my imagination. I started with random blue marks, manipulated the paint with a credit card and brush, and an oriental scene appeared, hence the name.
