Hydrogen Research Lab under the Centre for Clean Energy and Circular Economy (C-CECE) at NIT Calicut, is dedicated to cutting-edge academic research and engineering developments in the field of hydrogen energy under the supervision of Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department, NITC. Hydrogen lab is at the forefront of exploring hydrogen production, purification, storage, and its diverse applications.

Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, India. His research focuses on Hydrogen Energy, CO2 Capture and Sequestration, Renewable Energy, Heat Transfer, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, and Computational Fluid Dynamics. He earned his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore and his M.Tech from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur.
With over 11 years of experience in energy technologies, he has guided four PhD scholars and is supervising eight more. He has completed several sponsored and consultancy projects totalling over 1 crore INR and has published more than 70 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He also has three patents to his name.
K S Jaya Prakash is a full-time research scholar at Hydrogen Research Lab and Centre for Clean Energy and Circular Economy, at NIT Calicut, Kerala, India. He received his Master's and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is a member of the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Currently, he is working on the design, analyses, and performance of metal hydride–based hydrogen storage and compression systems.
Mohammed Faheem T is a dedicated researcher in Thermal Sciences, currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the National Institute of Technology Calicut. Completed both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Government Engineering College, Calicut. With prior academic experience as an Assistant Professor at KMCT College of Engineering, Mukkam, he has cultivated a strong foundation in teaching and research. His current research interests include hydrogen energy, purification techniques, and metal hydrides. Beyond his doctoral research, he actively contributes to academic activities, including coordinating laboratories and organizing International conferences. Passionate about continuous learning and academic excellence.
Josy James is pursuing a PhD in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, India. His areas of research are hydrogen energy, renewable energy, heat transfer, refrigeration, and computational fluid dynamics. He has completed his MTech in Thermal Engineering from Teerthanker Mahaveer University College of Engineering, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has completed Bachelor of Engineering from Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai, India. He has 3 years of experience in the field of energy technology
K. Kishor Kumar is pursuing a PhD in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, India. His research interests include biochar-based CO₂ adsorbents, carbon sequestration, hydrogen purification, metal hydride systems, bituminous composites, renewable energy, and computational fluid dynamics. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal, India. He has experience in teaching, research, laboratory development, curriculum design, and academic coordination. His research work focuses on the development and characterization of sustainable materials for CO₂ capture and clean-energy applications.
Hari Krishna Raj holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and MBA in General Management, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM).
He is currently a Senior Manager at BEML Limited, a Government of India Defence PSU, with over 14 years of experience in project management, Supply chain management, and strategic planning and engineering for defence and heavy engineering projects.
His research focuses on hydrogen embrittlement of structural materials for hydrogen energy applications, with interests in hydrogen storage and transportation, materials characterisation, fracture mechanics, and predictive modelling. His work integrates experimental investigations with engineering solutions to improve the reliability of materials for the emerging hydrogen economy.
Jinto Francis P.B. is a Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, India. His research focuses on CO₂ adsorption, hydrogen energy, renewable energy, heat transfer, refrigeration, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
He completed his M.Tech. in Energy Engineering and Management from NIT Calicut and earned his Bachelor of Technology from Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), University of Calicut, India. He is also a Certified Energy Auditor accredited by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, and is associated with the Energy Management Centre (EMC), Kerala, under the Department of Power, Government of Kerala.
Currently, he serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sree Rama Government Polytechnic College, Thriprayar, Thrissur, under the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala.
Before joining academia, he worked as an Assistant Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in the Military Engineer Services (MES) under the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India. With over 10 years of professional experience, he has expertise in project management, electrical power generation and distribution, grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) power systems, potable water and sewage treatment plants, HVAC systems, building management systems (BMS), and energy management.
