HRA Media Services prides itself in the experience and affordability of our services. Our visual services are unique and provide a distinct look. We have over 10 years of experience in the field. In comparative measures, we are the most affordable visual service in the area. Patience is important in the process, and when you receive your results, often times some weeks after, you will relive the moments captured all over again.
Negative film stocks produce a negative image that must be converted in a darkroom or digitally. Reversal, or "positive" stocks produce a normal image that can be viewed under any conditions. However, there is a caveat.
Reversal film gives great color saturation and can be viewed without digital scans or darkroom prints, but is often difficult to properly expose due to its low latitude. Latitude is the tolerance of films to be over or underexposed while still retaining useable information. Negative films allow more room for dynamic range and are often cheaper.
Example: Kodak Porta 800 Color Negative Dynamic Range is +/- 12 stops. Kodak Ektachrome 100 Color Reversal Dynamic Range is +/- 4 stops
Film requires a chemical process to view the photos. It takes longer than digital services which are often times immediate. Your film will be sent off to a trusted 3rd Party Affiliate for film processing. You should expect to receive results around 1-2 weeks after your event, depending on postage times, lab workflow, or holidays. 16mm Motion Picture may take longer but can be rushed for an increased price.
HRA Media Services cannot currently process film due to our company size. Therefore, we must send film to our trusted affiliates. Often times, these will include:
Reformed Film Lab of Ormond Beach, FL
Norwich Camera Company of Norwich, CT
The Negative Space of Littleton, CO
The simple answer: Aesthetic.
Practically speaking, there aren't many reasons to shoot film over digital expect in very specific cases. But the achieved look of the final result is what keeps so many people coming back. Often described as timeless and nostalgic, shooting film is a process that requires deliberate decisions, making every shot meaningful.
One frequent remark people have when receiving their results is, "These photos look like a movie!" That is our goal at HRA Media Services, to provide visual experiences that people can see as more than just a photo, or more than just a video. We want to provide our customers with an experience.
