I am a Lyx user and proud of woking with Lyx. It is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based on the structure of your documents and not simply their appearance. I created a Lyx-based template for a Ph.D. thesis at the University of Michigan. It complies with the Rackham official instruction. However, I am not updating this template based on a new version of instruction. However, you may change this Lyx-based template based your department requirement.
