Just added a new access point using the new Google wifi point and it isn't responding to "hey google" all of my other ones do. This one is the new model from this year while the others I got in June before they announced the update

That doesn't give me much hope. Kind of gets annoying having to reset it every time. And for the simple fact this just started happening (and consistently every 2-3 days) in the past 2 weeks or so makes me wonder what went wrong. The only positive side of it is it is at least still broadcasting WIFI but I use the assistant to control my smart home devices so it kind of becomes useless.

Same issue - still works as a mesh wifi but all the google assistant features are broken on the points. Also it throttles my upload to 5mb on all devices. I bypassed that but what's the point of having the router.

On some mobile phones it is causing me problems since they have the "Wifi Assistant" activated, that manages to switch the network when the WiFi signal is low. So I want to detect if this option is activated and show a proper dialog to the user saying that he should disable the wifi assistant (watchdog) to be able to configurate the device properly.

This code is working fine for my Samsung devices but the result from Settings.Global.getInt(cr, "wifi_watchdog_poor_network_test_enabled") and Settings.Global.getInt(cr, "wifi_watchdog_on") are returning a SettingNotFoundException for other manufacturers. It fails at least in: Xiaomi Redmi 7, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and Motorola One Action.

Why for some devices it is not returning the value of the setting if I enable/disable the "WiFi assistant" option? Is there any way to fix it? From the official documentation ( _WATCHDOG_ON) that should return the actual value of the WiFi watchdog.

You know what is a bad idea? Saying something is a bad idea without any proof. Maybe you imagine wifi to be a weak radio signal from the 30th but it is not. Are you also still using wired headphones and wired mouse? And your printer is connected by a IEEE 1284 cable?

From my 5+ years experience: Wifi works great! Only downside is that HA has a bad user experience setting it up because it requires to have it connected by ethernet cable in the first place or connect the Pi by HDMI cable. Every other device like a smart speaker or a vacuum robot creates a wifi network where you connect and then add the wifi data.

Has the app update got a glitch as the assistant doesn't seem to work properly Wi-Fi assistant shows I'm offline and is telling me to check my internet connection to get back online and retest .. but I'm online as the Wi-Fi is working, I have deleted the app on all devices and reinstalled but assistant still says can't speed check any ideas please

I've had experience using migration assistant between two 13" MacBook Pros via Firewire 800 cable that took 2 hrs for the file transfer. The recipient was running OS 10.9.2 and the source OS 10.6.8. Only about 150 GB needed to be transferred.

This has been working fine for 2 years with google assistant. Recently I have not been able to change the temp in the google home app. Everything worked fine in the inkbird app. It would only show the current temp in the room and no way to change any settings in google. I tried to unlink and relink to google but that did not fix it.

My iphone gave up the ghost and I need to go with a 7 or try the pixel. I was able to toggle to get wifi from my iphone to my mac - -very helpful when traveling outside of my internet zone. Does the Pixel offer the same? May I toggle to get wifi on my mac thru the pixel?

We rarely use our iPhones , and only once in about 5 years ever exceeded our data plan limit. When it happened a couple of months ago, I was surprised. But it happened again soon into the next month, when we were overseas for 3 weeks with data turned off. This time I called Verizon. I was told to turn off wifi assist, that a change Apple instituted around our departure time would shuttle us off wifi if a stronger data signal was available. The service rep explained that this was happening even as we used our devices in the living room, not just overseas. She kindly amended our bill and we're OK now. I've never quite understood how all this works, and have been reluctant to post because of that, but wanted to share our experience. I hope I have this right as I don't want to share misinformation.

Yes. If you have this setting on (on may be the default), and wifi is relatively weak, then the phone automatically uses data to keep your speed up or your pages loading. It's a good thing if you have a lot of data and wifi failure is rare. It's bad if your data is limited (like when traveling) or if your wifi often cuts out.

What I do when traveling is turn off cellular data (Settings --> Cellular top of menu). This allows my phone to get calls and wifi without using data. I have wifi assist off, too. Just in case. Then I can turn on data if needed, like if I'm lost and need google maps or to look up a phone number.

In order for the app to talk to HA, it needs to know its address. Just within your home network you might know that your Home Assistant is on an IP like 192.168.1.4 and listening on port 8123. If you use Home Assistant OS and haven't changed any of the defaults, Home Assistant will also be reachable at :8123.This is all fine and will work perfectly well as long as you never take your phone or tablet outside your home, but what if you do?The easiest way is to subscribe to Nabu Casa Cloud for a monthly fee. This fee helps support further development of Home Assistant. Nabu Casa Cloud acts as a "smart" proxy on the internet, tunnelling your frontend in an encrypted manner from your home to your phone, regardless where you are and without requiring opening your home network to inbound traffic from the internet. If you don't want to use Nabu Casa Cloud (which is fine, but you should still subscribe and enjoy the warm feeling of supporting Home Assistant), you need HA to be accessible from the internet. This requires opening a port on your router and getting a name for your Home Assistant on the internet. While it is possible to have your HA use Port 8123 internally and have your router do a port-forwarding from say the default https port of 443 to 8123, we recommend you NOT do this for reasons of simplicity which we will explain later. You also need a name for your Home Assistant as homeassistant.local is a private domain suffix that does not exist on the internet.

With Hairpin NAT working and SSL on your DNS domain you can now access Home Assistant securely both on the internet and at home and you should add external_url: my-home.duckdns.org:8123 to the homeassistant: section of your configuration.yaml. This is not strictly necessary but will help with auto-detection during onboarding of the iOS app, as the app will know where and how to reach your Home Assistant.

If you've followed all our advice, your app should find your Home Assistant instance automatically during onboarding when connected to your home wifi network. You can also go through onboarding anywhere you're connected to the internet by manually entering -home.duckdns.org:8123 and the setup will finish with that address in the External URL field in the app connection settings. There should be no need to enter an internal URL as the same address will work regardless of where your phone is connected.

You can also enter a wifi network BSSID in the app's settings in case you have multiple access points with the same SSID, and only want to use the internal URL when connected to a specific access point. To do so, add a new SSID with the name BSSID: followed by the BSSID (for example: BSSID:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E:6F). e24fc04721
