Hi, I had to do a clean install on my notebook but cannot get the touchpad to work. Can you please advise on the correct driver to install for this notebook. I cannot run the driver detection software as this is disabled in our organisation. Thanks in advance, Chris

My touchpad on the 450 G9 also doesn't work correctly (I can move the cursor but can't click anything). It works in Ubuntu so I know it's a driver issue in Windows but I can't find the driver. I tried to download the package you suggested but can't find the touchpad driver in there.

I have both an HP 440 and 450 G7 here and either will load the mouse in WinPE. I've narrowed it down to the " Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller-02E8" driver that needs to be loaded. I added this driver to our boot image but it didn't fix the issue. To confirm this is in fact the right driver, I disabled it in Windows and my mouse stopped working so I know this is the one. (HP also says this is the one -en/document/c06480716 ) I did some more troubleshooting and noticed when I used the drvload command in WinPE it would fail to install this driver (when I had the inf file only on my USB drive) but if the .sys and .cat files were there the driver installed and my mouse started working. The boot image only allows for .inf to be added, how do I resolve this? I've ran across a few forums that had this same issue with these models, no real fix yet. We have many models and have never had this issue as typically default MS mouse drivers worked.

this is also what I was thinking however I cannot find the touchpad driver for this model - it does work once in Windows however I think it is pulling a generic driver. I do not see it in the driver pack

In 2017 Windows 10 installation instructions appeared at reddit (referenced at The Verge, superuser, Windows Central and How-To Geek) using the Lenovo driver n1mgx14w.zip. This solution didn't seem to be limited to HP laptops. In 2019 problems with the Synaptics driver update version 19.5.10.75 and how to avoid it were discussed at HP Community. Unfortunately all solutions stopped working after the Synaptics driver version 19.5.x was included in the Windows feature update version 2004 in May 2020 because it could not be rolled back through the Device Manager driver update as usual as reported at HP Community. Also a registry entry could not block the driver update.
