I cannot find the Windows 11 drivers for my HP Envy 6032 printer. The printer is on the network and can be seen by other devices but the laptop cannot see it. I've tried using HP Smart and the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility and searched the HO website that says no drivers found for Windows 11. I can't believe that HP wouldn't have created the drivers before the Windows 11 operating system was released to the public.

It is at this point that I am stuck and it will not allow me to remove the driver because it says it is in use. Even though I have done the prior steps to uninstall the printer, remove the printers from Devices and Printers and even delete the printer and printer queues for this printer in the device manager (hidden items).

I removed the printer using the OS tools. I tried to reinstall with HPSmart and it has issues installing the driver. I tried installing using the OS tools and it has issues installing the driver. When I look up the printer in the device manager it shows up under Unknown Devices. When I right click to update the driver I get a message stating:

HP ENVY 6000 is a family printer that combines everything you need for everything from homeschooling to homework. This printer also offers the need to have more than functions in your home such as printing from a smartphone, copying, and scanning. This is supported by the HP Smart App which allows anyone connected to the network to use the printer from anywhere.

You can produce black-and-white documents up to 10 pages per minute and 7 pages per minute for color documents. In addition, the resulting print resolution is up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, but only with a flatbed scanner. The ENVY 6000 printer from HP supports Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems.

As far as most modern HP Printers go, they require you to download an app called HP Smart which includes the printer drivers. They do not offer the Printer Drivers separately, unless if I go to a third-party, but in my organization, and I'm sure most, would advise against that for reasons such as malware, security breaches etc.

We finally were able to download and install the drivers right after, but then was prompted with ANOTHER screen asking to install an HP Mobile App onto your phone "For easy printing on the go" as if air-print doesn't exist...

TL;DR HP Makes printing very difficult with their use of apps and accounts just to print a single piece of paper. No universal print driver. Only an app that doesn't work. And pain.

EDIT: It's been brought to my attention that a universal printer driver exists by several redditer's. I appreciate those who have pointed this out, as it has made life easier. (POST-EDIT: I have seen some have said that the 9010 does not speak PCL. u/RickRussellTX has confirmed that it actually does, and I quote, "Actually, specs say that it uses PCL." It is under "Printing Specifications> Print Languages.)

The point of my post though was (mostly to express my frustration with HP) to show how bad this HP printer software is when compared to simply installing a driver. I could have expressed this better, but based on what many others are saying, my feelings of frustration seemed to be shared by others with different experiences relating to similar issues with HP Printers. Appreciate all who has contributed to the discussion so far.

EDIT 3: Here is another solution from u/x_m_n**.** I thought this was great for those looking for a workaround. Quoting the redditer, " Just in case you need a model-specific driver that the universal print driver doesn't work on (I'm aware of the irony, such as P2035n), here's how I work around it on Windows at least. "

This is what I do... I download the universal drivers say for the m600 series.. It should be an .exe.. Download it, then extract it or run the program and it should extract a file under c:/hp_printer_drivers or something to that extent(It will tell you where it extracts, so pay attention). Then after that go to start -> add printer and then depending on if it's a network printer or hardwired, pick either one. It should detect it and then it gives you an option to install from a list of printers recognized in the last windows update or "have disk" -> choose the "have disk" option -> browse -> and then go to your c:/ directory where you just installed the file.. Usually the universal print drivers come with several series printers drivers you can choose from. The m600 series in my case was at the top of the directory.

EDIT 5: From redditer u/cbtboss**.** I have seen many others suggest 7zip, but here is how he uses it: "One other solution I often use is I download the driver. Then extract the exe using 7zip. Then there will be a folder with the inf file that you can use for manually installing/adding the printer."

EDIT 6: Redditer u/m7samuel found an amazing list of HP Printers that are supported by the Universal Driver. Here is his full comment, "A few things. As many have no doubt pointed out, this printer does not support PCL or PS languages (look under network protocols), so "just a driver" is going to be hard to find. The printer basically lacks a brain and literally needs your PC to instruct it how to put the ink where it needs to go, which necessitates fancier / crappier software. In the future, you can avoid much aggravation when purchasing printers by picking ones that speak "PCL" or "PS" (postscript); these printers have the brains to handle generic printer language representations, and thus drivers are simpler and you can often find universal variants to support your model. Xerox, Canon, HP, Brother, Ricoh all have universal drivers; IMO Xerox (more features) and HP's (simpler) are the best, but they're generally all quite decent.

A list of HP printers supporting their universal driver can be found here. Attempting to use a universal driver with a host-based printer (as suggested in some of your edits) will very likely result in test pages spewing out 600 pages of PCL / PS gobbledygook. The upside will be that you can see how printers talk to their mothers; the downside will be that you have no more paper or ink."

If you're using Windows and you've installed a HP driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver.
