Hp Envy 4520 Scan Software Download

How to I scan to email AT THE PRINTER without the use of my mobile device. The scan to PC does not work for me since the printer does not utilize web based email. I had a HP Envy 5530 and scan to email AT THE PRINTER was a function that I really liked, I did not need my mobile device or a PC to complete the scan to email function.

As I understand it the 4520 will scan to email but you need to use the app on your mobile device...well what if I don't have my mobile device with me. Seems a bit cumbersome to always have to use the app to scan to email. i hope there is a way to scan to email right FROM THE PRINTER.

I am trying to scan with my new HP Envy 4520, which prints just fine. When I press Scan on the printer LCD, the top of the page says "Select a Computer". Below that, it says "Scan to LAPTOP-NDOTRF2C", below that it says "Scan for Print to LAPTOP-NDOTRF2C", below that it says "Scan for E-mail to LAPTOP-NDOTRF2C", below that it says "Scan for Fax to LAPTOP-NDOTRF2C", below that it says Scan for OCR to LAPTOP-NDOTRF2C", below that it repeats the above. If I choose one of those, and press OK, it says "Connecting", then says "X Scan Unsuccessful", The scan could not be completed, make sure the scanning software has been installed & configured, etc.

The HP Scan and Capture is installed. If I run it, it says "Document HPF63680 (HP Envy 4520 Series", and below that, it says "Device is busy. Try again later.". meanwhile, the printer just sits there on the home screen.

After solving that problem with @Waltinator 's & other's help, I still am unable to scan using the scanner.I tried to understand the group permissions instructions on the above link but wasn't able to figure them out.For example, when I checked ls -l, it didn't show anything that appeared to be permissions for the printer or scanner. Is that "snap"?

When I use the application called "hp-uiscan" it claims "No Device Connected"When I press scan on my HP4520, it says "No computer found" make sure it is turned on.The inbuilt HP Device manager doesn't seem to have any scanner options.

I found out that hp-uiscan does not support MFP (Multi Function Printers) devices. There is only a limited device list of supported scanners.MFP printers are disabled programmatically by a filter list.

I used the usb connection.

I could not get the toolbox to work (it strangely scanned only the top of each page even though the settings showed that it was set to scan the entire page) so I had to use Simple Scan app that is already built into Gnome.
