Hi! It is a working instruction for people who faced with such errors:
If you own a device that uses HP 902/903/913/952/953/972/973 cartridges, you may have experienced errors due to firmware updates that block compatible cartridges. HP releases these updates multiple times a year to prevent third-party cartridges from working and promote the use of their own. These updates do not enhance device performance or introduce new features, but solely aim to block compatible cartridges.
If you want to keep using your compatible cartridges and save money, you can consider downgrading your HP printer firmware. This won't harm your printer as it is the original software, but an older version with no difference in features or performance compared to the current one.
The process is straightforward and takes only 5-10 minutes.
Make sure to follow the final step in the instructions to turn off updates through the printer display to avoid this problem in the future.
IT IS AN INSTRUCTION FOR WINDOWS OS
1. Select your printer model from the available list to download the firmware installer:
*These applications are absolutely safe - it's previous version (1847AR) of original HP firmware for the printers from 2019 (not modified).
*No difference in perfomance, features or security - old version just does not block non-original cartridges.
2. Click on the downloaded zip archive:
3. Double click on the file inside:
4. If you receive an alert from your antivirus, simply click on "More info" and then "Run anyway".
You see this alert because software is old and HP doesn't want to support it's digital signature.
5. When you see a window requesting confirmation for the file to run and access your home network, please grant permission:
6. Wait for 30-60 sec while updater find your device (be sure that it connected to your computer by wi-fi or cable.
7. Select your device and click Update:
8. Wait for 3-5 min while it's updating. You can see the updating process on the printer display.
*If it shows "Update failed," - close the program / reboot the printer / run the installer (a few times if an error appears again). Also, please clean the printing queue.
9. After the update, you will receive a notification confirming the successful completion of the process. The printer will require maintenance, which typically takes between 2-3 minutes.
*If you see an error message stating "Used or counterfeit, the contents of the original HP cartridges have been depleted. If they were sold to you as new," the ink levels may not be displayed, but the cartridges should still function properly.
10. Last important step if you want to prevent this problem in the future at all - turn off automatic updates (once again - HP makes them only to block compatible cartridges, not for better performance, new functions etc.):
On the printer display:
Click Settings / Setup icon > Printer Maintenance / Tools >
Update the Printer > Printer Update Options > Do Not Check
*On the question "Do you want to turn on Printer Updates?" select "No" to off printer updates.
Then press Home
*If you are encountering the error message, "The app you`re trying to install isn't a Microsoft-verified app" here is a solution:
