New Year, New You. But you're struggling to stick to your workout routine. Worry no more because I’m here to give you five insightful tips to help you introduce working out to your everyday routine.
The easiest way to implement new habits into your routine is to stay consistent. The number one reason people fail to stay consistent in the gym is because they have trouble finding the time to implement working out in their day-to-day life. According to exercisecoach.com “The top 5 reasons that people don’t start or stick with exercising begin with not having enough time. 42% of people say they don’t have enough time.”Which brings us to tip number 1: Implementing some sort of movement/activeness in your routine. Whether it is 30 min walk around your neighborhood, a light jog, or even just stretching. Getting your body used to daily movement helps improve mobility and build the foundational strength needed to get into more intense workouts.
No gym membership, No problem. Don’t let your lack of access to a gym membership delay your fitness journey. There are plenty of affordable alternatives you can partake in. Such as doing at-home workouts, yoga, and my personal favorite, at-home pilates. At-home workouts can be done with body weight or real weights. It all depends on your preference and the type of results you are looking to receive. When it comes to at-home workouts, YouTube will be your holy grail. There are so many different variations, as well as YouTubers who provide at-home workout videos and content.
Get a friend or accountability partner to hit the gym with you. Working out with a friend or someone you know who will keep you accountable can be a great addition to sticking to your workout goals. Working out with a friend not only offers you company when working out, but also serves as a support system. You and your accountability partner can motivate, push through workouts, and share the experience of leading a healthier lifestyle together.
Track your progress. Tracking your progress with your fitness journey serves as a great reminder of how far you have come. Seeing your progress laid out in front of you can also serve as a motivation booster to keep following through with your fitness journey
Reward yourself for small milestones. Build a reward system or even a wishlist if you will. You set up a list of items that you have been meaning to get, and every time you meet a new goal at the gym, like working out for 2 weeks straight, or staying consistent with your workout spilt you can reward yourself with something off that list.
Staying consistent with fitness goals isn’t always going to be easy, but hopefully, with the implementation of these skills, you can turn your fitness dreams into reality this year.
