January 24, 2026, our very own Mister and Miss Howard University traveled to Charlotte, NC, to compete in the Mister and Miss HBCU competition. The Mister HBCU competition was conceptualized on the campus of Lincoln University in Missouri in 2004, with its first contest held in February 2005. However, in 2025, the competition expanded to host the first Mister and Miss HBCU Competition.
Howard’s royal court is no stranger to this stage, as the 2025 reigning Mister HBCU was our 2024-25 Mister Howard University, Gregory Allen Jr. The energy was high, and the expectation for the weekend was even higher! Throughout this article, we will look at each portion of the show and explain just how our Mister and Miss competition stole it.
Hamid Jalloh was elected as the 2025-26 Mister Howard University, running on his platform, The Meccathon. Before being named Mister Howard, Hamid was already a representation of Howard University’s campus culture. Hamid joined several organizations, including the Men of George Washington Carver, Inc., and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Beta Chapter. He has served the Howard community in more ways than one, holding positions as a student ambassador and the 2024-25 CNAHS Council Vice President. During his campaign for Mister Howard, it was easy to see his love for Howard University and its students.
At the Mister and Miss HBCU competition, coming in with his predecessor holding the crown, the anticipation was through the roof.
Eden Boles, referred to by students as the People’s Princess, was elected the 2025-26 Miss Howard University on her Reshaping the Crown platform. Eden Boles has held a crown for almost the entirety of her Howard experience, showing Howard women of all walks of life what it means to lead with grace. In her freshman year, she served as the 2022-23 Miss College Hall North, and the next year, she reigned as the 2023-24 Miss Residence Life. By the end of her sophomore year, she ran for the 2024-25 Miss College of Arts and Sciences, the largest school on Howard’s campus. She won the hearts of over 3,000 students and the crown. As we know, at the end of that reign, she was named Miss Howard University. In addition, Eden is a member of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and an avid student researcher.
It is no secret that Eden is a pageantry professional. In fact, the only secret is how she continues to set the bar higher with each reign!
In the competition, our Mister and Miss did not disappoint! Both of our leading royals made it to the Top 10 contestants. Eden Boles cashed in and was named the 2nd Miss HBCU. Hamid Jaloh was named 2nd Runner Up and was nevertheless congratulated for being a striking competitor. They represented our beloved Howard University well. Ladies and gentlemen, this is truth and service personified. Even from miles away, HU students supported our royals digitally and watched virtually. If you see our Mister and Miss Howard, and our new Miss HBCU, congratulate them on a competition well done!
