Brunch Culture in the Nation’s Capital
Washington, DC has built a reputation as one of the best brunch cities in the country, and with spring finally here, there’s no better time to step out, show off your favorite fits, and gather with friends over great food and even better vibes. From vibrant atmospheres to unbeatable deals, brunch in the city is more than a meal, it’s a shared experience amongst friends. In this article will list some of the best Black-owned brunch spots in DC that offer the perfect mix of affordability, flavor, and ambiance, especially for college students looking to enjoy stepping of campus and finding some of the best bites around the city.
Lady Bird
“Lady Bird is a neighborhood rooftop lounge within walking distance to Dupont and Logan Circle, offering a sense of relaxed refinement and discovery. Feel on top of the world with expansive views of Washington DC while sipping on creative hand-crafted cocktails and seasonal small plates by crackling fire pits. It is the perfect place to celebrate or simply re-connect with friends and the city below.” -open table
The Park at 14th
The Park on 14th “There are a number of spots that have taken the Black clubstaurant idea and run with it, but The Park on 14th paved the way and we like to give credit where credit is due. You aren’t going to get good food here (or at most clubstaurants), so put that out your mind. But you will have a good time, whether you show up for Happy Hour, brunch, or a late-night grinding session. The vibe is always different, depending on the time of day, day of the week, and which of the four floors you’re on. But if you and your people are looking for a fun time where you can soak up your alcohol with subpar soul food, you won’t miss at The Park.” - Infatuation
Flavorture
“Flavorture's elevated American Soul experience is a collaboration of Chef Mac! and Chef Pinke's culinary expertise brought to life. Conveniently located in Historic Woodley Park adjacent to the prestigious Omni Shoreham Hotel. Our top shelf bourbon and whiskey centric bar which is second to none, along with our cozy outdoor patio seating, exquisite cuisine and superior customer service further elevates the entire dining experience.” - Open table
Kitchen Savages
Kitchen Savages “We believe in the power of food to do more than just fill your stomach, it can bring communities together. Our mission is simple but powerful: to use every dish we serve as a bridge to connect underserved communities, empower at-risk young adults, and deliver exceptional service.”
Code Red
CODE RED ‘We’re a celebration of freedom that transports you back into the Prohibition Era while embracing modernity with classic cocktails, eclectic cuisine, and outstanding service.” -Open table
Now that you have some new brunch spots on your raider, it’s time to explore. Grab your friends, make those reservations, and support local Black-owned businesses, because showing up is what keeps these spaces thriving
