Spring Turns the City Into an Event Hub
As summer comes to a close, Washington, D.C., comes alive with festivals, concerts, and cultural events. The city blooms in April and May, offering students countless opportunities to explore beyond campus before heading home for the summer.
Flower Mart- May 1-2
The Washington National Cathedral hosts its annual Flower Mart. This two-day event allows visitors to shop for plants and gifts. Also, allowing visitors to walk around and enjoy the gardens, eat fun festival food, enjoy children’s activities, ride a historic carousel, and take in the beauty of the International Floral Exhibit.
Adams Morgan Spring PorchFest- May 2
Adams Morgan is one of the most popular neighborhoods in D.C. This event will feature 80 bands playing an array of genres, including rock, reggae, funk, Go-Go, rap, bluegrass, classical, and pop. Twenty porches, business patios and parks, as well as the closed 18th Street, will become stages for the day, drawing music-lovers from around the region into the tree-lined streets and small businesses of Adams Morgan and its free admission.
Experience a DC Defenders game at Audi Field – May 2 & 9
Defenders football is now a springtime tradition at Audi Field, drawing crowds who embrace the electric energy and passion of DC’s home team. Expect singing, chanting, and the famous Beer Snake weaving through the stands as fans rally behind the Defenders. Whether you’re a die-hard supporter or attending your first game, the spirited environment promises an unforgettable experience. Upcoming home games include a May 2 matchup against the Dallas Renegades and a May 9 matchup versus the Louisville Kings, both guaranteed to deliver high-octane action and plenty of excitement.
