The Yard (Howard University)

Now that the weather is finally getting warmer in DC, campus just feels different. People are outside more, everything feels a little more relaxed, and students are taking advantage of the sun whenever they can. A perfect spring day on campus is not really about doing anything big, it is just about enjoying the little moments during the day.

One of the best parts of spring is just being outside in between classes. Instead of rushing everywhere, people are actually walking through the Yard and taking their time. Even a short walk feels better when the weather is nice, and it kind of gives you a break without even trying. Try to be present in the moment because your time in undergrad doesn't last forever. Start a conversation with a stranger, talk to a friend, or just listen to your music on your stroll.
As it gets warmer, the Yard starts filling up again. Students are sitting on benches, laying out blankets, or just finding a spot on the grass to chill between classes. Some people are studying, some are talking with friends, and others are just outside because it feels good to not be indoors all day.
When the weather gets warmer and the flowers start to bloom, it's about enjoying the small moments. Grabbing food and eating outside instead of going inside, staying outside a little longer after class, or just sitting somewhere random because the weather is nice. It is not anything planned, but it makes the day feel better.
A perfect spring day on campus is really just about slowing down a little and enjoying where you are. Whether it is walking through the Yard, sitting with friends, or just being outside for a bit longer than usual, those small moments are what make spring on campus feel good.
