Vaquita
There are only ten 10 of these little species of porpoise left! They are at the brink of extinction. with only 10 left this species it is definitely one of the top two most endangered animals. It needs our help to bounce back now, or this animal could join one of the many to slip through our fingers on our watch.
Javan Rhino
This beautiful Rhino is the most threatened of the five most endangered rhinos in the world species! With only 60 individuals. this species needs our help! At one point in time Javan rhinos survived in northeast India and southeast Asia. Vietnam's last Javan rhino was poached in 2010.
Being one of the many endangered rhino species, there are only around 80 of this type. Inside of that there are only around 30 mature individuals, making it critically endangered and in need of our help. The only survivors stay in small, fragmented groups, and with limited abilities to find each other to breed, its population decrease continues. Only two captive females reproduced in the last 15 YEARS.
Amur Leopard
People usually think of leopards in the Savannahs of Africa sitting in a tree, but in the Russian far East, this rare cat has adapted to this environment. Only 84 amur leopards remain. This species of leopard is important to its ecosystem. If it can be saved, its ecosystem might flourish. (Check out our "What's the problem?" page to know why)
Cross River gorilla
Humans have intruded on the Cross River gorilla's territory and cleared their forest for timber and to make meadows for livestock. Poaching also occurs in their forests. Due to this the numbers have dropped to around 200-300 individuals.
Sunda Island Tigers
Despite increasing conservation efforts, Sunda tigers are losing their territory and the prey in it, fast. The poaching of these amazing animals is a constant threat to them. Because of poaching the Sunda tiger's population has dropped below 400. It is in need of all the help it can get.
Darwin's Fox
Darwin's fox's Live in Chile. the deforestation in their habitat has caused the spices to drop to critically low numbers. The Darwin's fox needs our help to keep the rest of them alive. A canine disease called Mycoplasma haemocanis also contributes to their dropping numbers. But there's still hope! we can make things better for these animals if we give them space to roam in their habitat
(An estimated minimum of 227 individuals on the mainland and 412 on Chiloé Island)
Red Panda
The red panda has been Endangered since 2008 and lives in China. Hunting them is now illegal and the forests in which they live mostly protected. Their numbers are still critically low because they don't have offspring very often. Over time, they may begin to recover if we continue to protect their habitat. In all of China, there are 10,000, which despite sounding big is a very small number for such a large place.
Tapanuli Orangutan
This species is so vulnerable to extinction, because they live on an island in Indonesia and can quickly have their habitat taken over with no place to relocate. There are less than 800 in the world because in just 22 years, over 40% of their forests were destroyed. Due to deforestation, these animals desperately need conservation. We simply cannot let this animal go extinct.
African Forest Elephant
Due to deforestation in Africa, this animal has lost over 80% of their population over the last 31 years. The African forest elephant is also poached regularly, and it is difficult to catch the poachers doing it. Humans are also taking over their land by cutting down trees which is causing conflict between villagers and elephants. More is needed to protect this animal and educate the people to help them learn that they are not enemies. we need to help this animal out. It really does not deserve it.
Please help spread the word about these animals that need our help all over the world!
