The Urban Howdy Farm used to partner with TUFU.
TAMU Urban Farm United (TUFU) was a micro-farm project utilizing vertical towers that produce high-value/ specialty crops in a space-conscious technique via hydroponic growing methods.
Their first goal was to distribute the fresh food to 12th Can, TAMU's food pantry. The patrons of 12th harvested fresh, organic produce directly from the towers, enabling hyper-local food consumption. Produce was then shared to local businesses like Nam Cafe.
During the hail storm on March 14, 2025, the greenhouse was heavily damaged. Texas A&M University decided to permanently shut down TUFU's operations in 2026.
