The story covers events from 1776 to 1781 and features a farmer from Setauket, New York, and his childhood friends. They form an unlikely group of spies called the Culper Ring, which eventually helps to turn the tide during the American Revolutionary War.[3] The series begins in October 1776, shortly after British victories recapture Long Island and the Port of New York for the Crown, and leave General George Washington's army in dire straits. The first episode opens with the following introductory text:

Autumn 1776. Insurgents have declared war against the Crown. Following a successful naval landing, His Majesty's Army has forced Washington's rebels into the wilderness. New York City serves as military base of operations for the British. The Loyalists of nearby Long Island keep vigilant watch out for sympathizers and spies.

When I began the new season of a show I was watching on Netflix, an audio description of the show suddenly started playing. I have searched high and low trying to figure out if it was AppleTV, Netflix, my remote (Harmony), or my TV (a Sharp Aquos) that suddenly decided I needed that feature. So far, no luck. Does anyone have a solution?

Incorrect, but thanks for playing. This is not a subtitles issue - this is an audible, audio description issue. I can't even find where I would turn such a thing on, and searching online about audio descriptions suggest that Netflix doesn't even offer such a feature. It seems like perhaps this is something Netflix is close to rolling out, but the Apple TV software can't reflect its availability yet, so these glitches are occurring. My issue doesn't occur every show I watch either; it's temperamental.

Hi I don't know if this has already been answered and I know it's an old question but I know how to do it on the 2nd gen Apple TV it's in setting under Accessibility and Audio Descriptions is on or off

Same here, but I've discovered that it doesn't happen when I'm using my laptop to use Netflix, so it's likely to be an Apple TV (bug) issue, or a problem with Netflix's Apple TV connection. I hope it gets sorted out soon - nothing kills tension (comic or dramatic) quicker than a monotonous description!

It happened to me while I was watching New Girl too. I was watching season 1 and the audio description wasn't there, moved on to season 2 and it was on the first 2 episodes. I think you're right - it may be a Netflix thing.

Hey you guys, Me too, It just happened to me right now, was trying to watch New Girl (can't live without Jess Day, but we all know this by now...) season two to be exact, and it started doing this annoying narrating thing, totally turns me off by the way (in a Schmidt voice) "we build this Schmidtty on tootsie roll"... Lol

has anybody come up with a solution to this, or I'll just have to bare with it for the next two episodes... (I have watched all three seasons for the third time now) But still need it to be perfect every time I watch!!!! Thanks...

Yup, looks like it's built in to the first two or three episodes of New Girl season 2 if played through the Apple TV. (Have any of the rest of you tried on other devices and, like me, had the problem disappear?)

Just talked to Netflix customer support. Looks like it's a Netflix issue, not an Apple TV issue. And it didn't sound like they were aware of it so they were reporting it to their tech team who was checking it out. Sorry, not really a fix but at least they're aware of it.

First go to the Netflix.com, turn off auto-play, and save settings. Next, on your Roku TV, remove the Netflix App if you have it installed. Then on your Roku TV remote, press the HOME button 5 times, press UP 1 time, press REWIND 2 times, and then FAST FORWARD 2 times. This will reboot your TV, it takes a minute and you'll see the menu scrolling, give it time. Next, reinstall the Netflix App, it takes a while so don't back out like I did before it's finished. Finally, open the Netflix App and see if it works, it did for me on my TCL43s421 Roku TV. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately the 3rd form of NF autoplay (when looking at the content details, it autoplays), a.k.a "details autoplay" cannot be controlled via settings (NF mostly pretends they dont know about it, though they've been told for several years).

Sorry I was not explicit. I am talking about the automatic "play the show before I even have a minute to look at other options". When I go to a TV show or movie it starts automatically. I don't even have time to push the play button. Why is the play button even there? I don't want it to start automatically. I don't even have time to push the different episode button. There doesn't seem to be a way to control this option.

Channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel developer themselves. We suggest reaching out to Netflix's customer support team to see if they have any additional settings or options within their device that may allow the functionality you are looking for.

I noticed that if I am watching something on Netflix, if I turn off the SMP (not full power down) without returning to the SMP Home screen (stay in the Netflix app) that the next time I turn on the SMP the screen is black. The SMP appears to power on and off (based on the LED in the front of the SMP), but the TV screen stays black. I have to unplug the SMP and plug it back in to get it working again. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?

I am using Kaspersky safe kid. When I turn on web activities monitoring, my kids can not load film on netflix, they can login, select film but it is loading film forever and they can not watch any film. 152ee80cbc
