Video games are now mainstream. It is a well-known fact. As the industry grows, so too are people playing video games of all kinds. The most interactive media is games.
They can improve hand-eye coordination and even enhance your eyesight by making your eyes more sensitive to detail and focusing harder than normal. Because they can hold focus, they are a great educational tool. Games such as Dance Revolution, which is a two-minute song, will help you get rid of that Big Mac. They are now a great social tool that allows you to meet people from other places, thanks to the rise in popularity of the internet. Although I can now boast having more friends from out of state than I do in my home state, I have only met a handful of them in person. What's the best thing? The best part? Americans should encourage a world that values people who are kind and courteous, rather than anorexic wannabe models bent on taking advantage of others to climb the corporate ladder Starsector Faction Mods.
Video games, like all things, have a downside, especially their addictive nature. Ex-addict myself, it is what I know.
It's very simple. It all starts out quite simple. There are many reasons that video game addicts become addicted. These include the social aspects and the desire to win. You eventually lose interest in the game, but you continue to play, regardless of the reason. This happened with Ever quest, Star Wars Galaxies, Battlefield 2 and most recently Battlefield 3. Each addiction has taught me that I am a social addict. Because I had friends, I continued playing the games even after they became boring or otherwise monotonous. This was something that I did not have in my life as a student. I've never been so bad that I needed an intervention. Star Wars Galaxies was a huge change after I spent a month doing the same boring things over and over again in order to find the most powerful character. This is what finally got me to quit. Battlefield 2 was about finding a tournament where I could play another game, which was something that all my friends did.
I'm not an addict now that I'm a bit busier than before. I couldn't be busier and maintain the work schedule that I have. I'm actually glad that I know video games are my only addiction. But I miss my friends and I must say that if you're going to become addicted to anything, friends are better than beer.
