I use PIA (Private Internet Access) as a VPN. Hoping maybe i can spin up a VM for a virtual router and load up PIA in it to redirect traffic. Cant seem to find anything that goes into the detail for something like this but it feels like it should be do-able whether im thinking about it the right or wrong way. And yes im sure you all think you know what im going for given the streaming news but i have a different agenda. :)

I have an old Sony TV that currently has a Fire Stick plugged into it. The TV works fine, but I want to use my desk speakers which are much more powerful than the TV speaker. If I get an Echo Dot and connect it to the speakers, is there a way to interface the Fire Stick with the Echo Dot in order to route the TV audio through the Dot out of the speakers?

Hello, I've been searching for a definitive answer to this for a long time, and I cannot find the information anywhere. I would like to connect my Fire TV audio to a Sonos system via wireless. Currently, I'm able to connect my audio from my Fire TV via Bluetooth to either a Bluetooth speaker or my Amazon Echo. What I would like to know is if the new Alexa integration will allow [u]wireless[/u] audio to route from my Amazon Fire TV to a Sonos system. If so, does this require the new Sonos One? This is also relevant for any users who want to connect a Fire Stick directly to the back of a ceiling mounted (or otherwise remotely located) projector and can't route audio cables.

Right now I use a VPN application that needs to be run on each device if i want to connect to US netflix. This is my dedicated box located in Seattle within my home. It's a basic open VPN server not commercial-based based it really is just a home box in my wife's home hanging out for access usa netflix. I would selectively route traffic directly through Sophos XG (where i currently am) to utilize the VPN and the rest of the traffic to go through my regular WAN connection.

Another thing to try.... On the Firestick ChannelsDVR client, do Settings->Playback->Streaming Quality->Home Streaming and then choose something other than "Original". This will, I think, force the data stream to get routed through the DVR server and transcoded en route to the fire stick. The transcoding process might clean up whatever is causing problems. I did this to eke a little longer life out of an old (non-4k) Firestick stat had trouble keeping up with the full-bandwidth data stream.

It happens the same for every channel and it does not happen if I use HDhomerun app.

The signal strength, quality and symbol are about 100%.

It happens on two firestick after a few tens of minutes.

Yep, if you install it on the Fire TV Stick it will not affect any other devices. If you have the VPN installed on your router, however, you might be able to set up split tunneling so only specified devices go through the VPN. Depends on your firmware, though.

Hello - I used to use kodi (and may go back to it if i can't get this fixed) but a friend suggested I try Emby when i was complaining about renaming over 2k files so kodi could find them on the pc / server.

I installed it and it found everything, no renames needed!!! YAY!

So installed it on all 3 of my firesticks (3 tv's, 2 older firesticks, one new with voice remote; all 3 on same amazon account)

on the 1st one i went down to bottom on home screen, clicked the unlock and paid my $4.85 i think it was, and yay now on home screen it says "emby premier" under options instead of "unlock" SUCCESS!!!!

went to 2nd stick and opened app and on the bottom it says "unlock" - ok... clicked it - and wants me to buy it again - ok figured why not... i can do $5/tv... and it fails and says "you already own this app".

I cleared cache, cleared data, uninstalled app, restarted firestick, reinstalled app - same thing

BOTH the 2nd and 3rd firesticks have same issue

all signed in under same user in emby and same amazon accounts (obviously if it says i own the app).

I contacted amazon - they said it's something i have to contact Emby about ... so here i am.

But, aside from seeing something about beta, i am at a loss - and do not wish to use a 2nd and 3rd amazon account as i have a lot of paid apps i use across all 3 firesticks....

OH... all 3 firesticks have same Version EMBY: Version: 1.7.78a

the 1st one says "Registered" the other 2 say "In Trial. Expires Feb 24, 2020" (which the first one did say until i unlocked it)

The pc where it is installed (server) is version 4.3.1.0)

My fire stick remote stopped working and my WIFI is not connected to my firestick so I can't connect my fire stick app on my phone to my fire stick on the TV how can I fix this problem without ordering a new remote?? Please and thank you!

This worked for me. I got a 2 pack of 3 leg otg cables from amazon for about $7. I connected them to a keyboard and was able to reconnect to my WiFi network. I had to take a couple of extra steps because I was then routed to a white amazon page that requested my user name and password but would not allow

Me to submit info using the amazon remote app or the keyboard. To get around this I pressed the home key on the amazon remote app until the shortcut apps menu came up. I then Pressed the back button and the right directional button together for about 10 seconds. When the reset to factory default came up I clicked reset. It cleared all of the data from my firestick and allowed me to set up my firestick from scratch. Having to reset my firestick was worth it because Amazon had advised there would be nothing I could do to get the firestick back up and running.

You cant place MyFirestick app in your phone, but if you phone doesnt pick up a firestick thats clearly picking up a signail then what the !&&* ! Tried everything but throw the kitchen sink at the %#*@ thing ! Geez?!

I'm having an issue with my firestick. Every time I start it up my stick doesn't go to the regular home screen. The fix didn't work for me. I downloaded the Firestick TV app to my phone and found that it was working after I'd paired it to the firestick. Then I went into settings and clicked on remotes and asked it to find the 'old' remote as if it was a 'new' remote. It found it but the on-screen instructions for pairing went by so fast that I had to repeat the operation 3 times, reading a little more of the info each time until I managed to complete it. Now all works fine. In fact, it works better than it did before it lost the pairing so it must have been going 'off-beam' for some time.
