Yes. You can download any podcast episode and listen to it offline. New episodes from shows you follow will be automatically downloaded. And you can find all your downloaded episodes in your library in the Downloaded section.

It sounds like you've got your podcasts syncing to your iMac, but need them to sync the other way around. Here are the steps for both devices, go ahead and verify that both the iMac and iPhone have these settings:

But.. let's say I listen to a podcast and want to continue it on my iPhone, why would I need handoff to do it if it already is supposed to "sync"? I should be able to open the podcast and continue where I left off right? The playhead should sync too. This seem to only work if I do it handoff style, which won't help me if I'm not nearby my Mac and want to continue listening to a podcast.

Hey pookeyblow, Apple does appreciate all feedback regarding their products, services, and features. If you'd like to provide this feedback to Apple to be reviewed, you can do so using this link: Feedback - Apple Podcasts - Apple

Turning off auto download didn't work for me when looking before. But what did work for me is unfollowing old pods which were no longer available. There wasn't an image but a grey apple podcast logo and it said there were no episodes. Most notable is the JRE after moving to Spotify. JRE was a huge podcast so I imagine this could be a reason so many are experiencing this problem.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0 and 35 C (32 to 95 F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

With upgrading to WatchOS 10, I found that the new Podcasts app on my watch is not able to control podcasts playback on iPhone, so from the most used app it downgraded to rarely used, but for some reason the app still activates when I start playing a podcast on iPhone without any way to control the playback. Another problem is that it's not possible to add "Now playing" to the watch screen quick button, nor it appears in the current task list, so I have to open All Apps list on watch and find "Now playing". Is there a way to make it less cumbersome?

I have same problems. I used to jog only with watches before. And I could control podcasts from watches without needing to have a phone with me. But watch does not allow to pause and rewind podcast. Before the release I hoped to see in Podcast app more information about timeline of a track, but unfortunately it haven't happened. It feels like Apple made the interface change for the sake of change, and only made the user experience worse. I already regret switching to WatchOS 10 :(

I did all that. The play button starts the podcast but then there are no buttons to pause, ff, or rewind. Also, nothing happens when I hit the circle in the right upper corner. As you say, the controls will pop up, but they don't pop for me. Frustrating.

Frustrated the heck out of me too so I did the typical computer fix. Turned off watch then followed suggestion from stefashka Author User level: Level 1 4 points Sep 25, 2023 1:10 PM in response to wayne248

For some reason, a suggestion from previous years worked for me one day later I tried it for the first time: I've disabled the automatic opening audio app yesterday and enabled it today. Just re-enabling it and restarting the Podcasts app on the Watch did not help yesterday, but today opening the Podcasts app on Watch while a podcast was playing on my iPhone activated the "Now playing" screen from the Podcasts app and after I enabled Autostart of Audio apps in the settings, brings that screen too when I resume playback on iPhone. I am back to the happy users camp now :)

I appear to have had this problem on my Apple Watch 7 after upgrading to 10.1 from 9.x. Upon starting a podcast on my connected iPhone, the Podcasts app would launch on my watch, but it would just open to the main screen of that app and the button at the top right to jump to the Now Playing screen, though animating to show audio playback occurring, did not respond to taps.

I have a podcast app on my phone and on my iPad. I want to delete all the stored podcasts and app on my iPad without affecting any podcasts on my iPhone. Will deleting them from my iPad affect those on the iPhone?

I follow/subscribe about 20 podcasts. Just today only certain ones have stopped updating (about five of the 20) for my iPhone/iPad, but update on iTunes on the Desktop machine just fine. I know that there are new episodes of the ones that aren't syncing.

This is just a possibility. You might first want to try turning off Wi-Fi and see if the apps download over cell data alone. If not, with one of the Shows for which new episodes do show up on the Apple Podcasts Server, but not in your Podcast app Show list, try the following:

Apple Discussions is a user-to-use your knowledge sharing forum and, as you can see, we are all sharing some of the pain with the Podcasts app upgrade. The best bet is for all to submit problems and suggestions to Apple at Apple Feedback, -podcasts/

Hopefully, some heads have rolled for those responsible, clearer thinking people have replaced them and the bugs will be straightened out soon. Apple is an excellent company which has made this experience frustrate us more.

I also had the same issue and, though may already be posted online, noticed this only happens when my battery is running low power mode. In fact, I believe there is a setting stating background app refresh is turned off in low power mode. Once I charge my battery and status turns green, my next podcast shows up.

Library will show you a list of all the shows you have added to your subscription list. Browse will allow you to browse the Apple Podcasts directory by featured, top charts, and by category. Search will allow you to search for specific shows.

Voice Boost is a feature that aims to normalize the volume and make shows easier to listen to when in noisy situations, such as a car or airplane. For shows with less-than-ideal editing, Voice Boost can make shows easier to listen to, and it was upgraded to version 2 in early 2020.

Voice Boost 2 is a mastering-quality audio-processing pipeline that applies broadcast-standard loudness normalization, light compression and EQ, and a true-peak lookahead limiter to your podcasts, in real time, without sacrificing quality or battery life. And it runs at less than 1% CPU usage on an iPhone SE.

Pocket Casts has been around the iPhone podcast app scene for about as long as any app has been. One of the features it pioneered was storing your feeds on a server so refreshing is fast and has minimal effects on battery life, and almost all apps have copied it today.

Overall, there are lots of great options for podcast apps. If you want a default Apple experience, use Apple Podcasts. If you want social features, Breaker is the best app for you. If you want the best overall audio experience, Overcast is hands down the best. If you subscribe to a lot of shows, Castro can help you manage your now playing list. If you want an Android app or an excellent macOS app experience, check out Pocket Casts.
