3 - Creating WebDAV Mounts on the Linux Command Linux using aforementioned manual 4.2.4; result "[mntent]: line 14 in /etc/fstab is bad

mount: can't find /home/rost/owncloud in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab"

Line 14 is checked and is correct.

After a reboot of the computer the client always wants to authorizes through the browser. (When setting up the client, It did not ask me for username or password, only for the server address).

There is an entry in my kdewallet (Contents tab) but in the Applications tab there is an entry only in the upper field ("These applications are currently connected to this wallet") and not the lower one ("These applications are authorized to acess this wallet"). This is weird, because I actually granted access to owncloud multiple times.

Syncing of my folders works fine once authorized.

How To Download Owncloud On Linux Mint

I don't think that you can compare the windows and the linux clients, those are probably using completely different methods to save the password (I think something something like e.g. seahorse/gnome-keyring doesn't exist on windows).

When the desktop app tries to auth through the browser, it probably uses Oauth2 as the authentication path, instead of the locally stored password. Please try to disable the Oauth2 app in your owncloud installation, this should force the client to use the local password, e.g. from gnome keyring or KDE kwallet

Once you get the Owncloud page, you need to create an admin account and a Data folder location, where all files/folders will be stored (or leave default location i.e. /var/www/owncloud/data or /var/www/html/owncloud/data). Next, you need to enter mysql database username, password, and database name, refer to the screenshot below.

I followed your guide step by step. I now have a working owncloud. But I am afraid to let it out on the internet since I get a message when I log in as admin saying my .htaccess file is not working. How can I solve this problem? Thanks for a great website!

You can name it, e. g., add-owncloud-repository, make it executable (chmod u+x add-owncloud-repository), and save it somewhere on your $PATH (e. g. $HOME/bin). Then run it (add-owncloud-repository) and you should have your ownCloud specially tailored for Linux Mint 19.

Thank you, @lazawan, for your input, but I think I already verified here in my previous post that the binary is in the correct place. Doing which owncloud shows /usr/bin/owncloud, which is a symbolic link to /opt/ownCloud/ownCloud/bin/owncloud. The which program should always show which binary gets executed when I call its name as a command.

To verify that the file was actually installed by the last apt operation, I went to /var/cache/apt/archives and inspected the ownCloud deb package with mc. Compared the size and date of the contained owncloud binary with the installed one and both agree.

3. I had also another problem. Library libocsync.so.2.2.4 took place in folder /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/nextcloud/ not in /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/. You can copy file to parent directory or make link to it.

Now things work, data no longer located in /var/lib/owncloud, rather in /var/www/owncloudThere is an .htaccess file under /var/www/owncloud/dataPermissions for all files in data set to www-data:www-data

I thought this was going to be simple. Build a basic Linux box, set up raid one, install plex and owncloud and away we go. After a day and half of research I feel overwhelmed and am not really sure how to proceed.

Check the md5 of what you downloaded vs what the download site says it should be to check on the integrity of your disc, I think mint also has a "check disc for defects" if you interrupt the normal boot (during the 9second count down).

I've watched dozens of YouTube videos and have been to dozens of websites, blogs, & Q&As and not a single one of them gives instructions for installing LetsEncrypt's certbot in a docker container for owncloud on your own hardwar. None of the instructions I've found work.

This doesn't work either on the host nor in the terminal in the container (no one ever explains whether to execute these commands on the host or in the container's terminal, BTW). Earlier in the video, whatever docker image he's using, he says it comes with lets-encrypt already in it. The official owncloud docker image does not and I'm using the official owncloud docker image.

Like most people using Ubuntu, I installed the OwnCloud desktop sync client using the built in software installer in Ubuntu. On Xubuntu this is simply named Software in the menu and you just search for owncloud and click the install button. Once it's installed, launch the application and it will ask a few configuration questions as well as your logon detail for the OwnCloud server you want to connect to. I went into the OwnCloud client's settings and ticked the box that configures it to launch at startup so that it will automatically start the next time I logon. At this point everything appears to work, I left it to synchronise my files and it finished that without a hitch.

Most of the time i'm using Arduino (1.8.13 and 2.0.0-rc2) on my windows 10 pc (and notebook). I changed the sketchbook location to point to my owncloud. Now i installed an older pc in my lab with Linux Mint 20.x and synced my data via my owncloud.

When i try to open Arduino in Linux, i get lots of error messages about "non ASCII-characters in filenames". The problem seems to be the dash ('-') in some files (and their folders). Even some libraries come with examples with dashes in filenames.

Why can't the linux version of arduino handle dashes in filenames? Why does the windows version allow dashes in filenames?

I could use a different sketchbook folder in linux, but i want my projects to be synced to my other PCs and also (even more important) to have my libraries synced on all PCs.

The arduino.cc team made some decisions (poor ones, IMO) a while back (I think it was when 1.5x came out) as to how and where they wanted to store the Arduino development tools that will forever preclude them from using the normal package managers in linux.

This is why the Arduino packages in the mint and ubuntu distros are way out of date

Following the guide, when I have to choose the folder where to install OC, the browser goes in timeout.

Re-opening the setup-owncloud.php, the system tells me: OC is NOT installed. There's already an installation

of OC in this folder...".

Actually, the folder is now filled with the installation files, but when I try to create the admin account,

the system always goes in timeout and the CPU is always at 100% load.

I started to read this because it sounded interesting, Got to the part where he suggested using Linux mint LOL no thanks if you want to run a server do not install a desktop just learn how to traverse directories in terminal or SSH keep your machine lean and mean

A new tool, called "mintReport", will bring information to users and help them troubleshoot issues with the OS. The app is not feature complete as of this writing, but it is already able to gather crash reports using apport as a backend.

AFAIU, owncloud and seafile are mutually exclusive.@wombat77, could you highlight the pros and cons of each product? We could offer two options, with a clear document to help the end user choosing the best product for his needs.

Pydio was not suitable for some users, and OwnCloud we thought was better than Seafile for sync. We did look at using others,(cloud versions) like DropBox, Google+, etc, but wanted something that we can control, and could be placed on our own hardware.

NethServer includes a one-click install of OwnCloud, (see here: -owncloud-1-click-install/ ) and with the NethServer community, if things went wrong, there is excellent help available. ff782bc1db
