The Unicode encoding for subjoined consonants uses U+1039 MYANMAR VIRAMA. Some keyboards provide a key for this character, so that a subjoined consonant can be entered as a two-key sequence of VIRAMA and the consonant. Other keyboards provide keys that enter the VIRAMA and the consonant together. [NL]

The keyboard arrangement does not determine if the text is Unicode oranother form. Keyboard applications that produce Unicode are availableon most devices and web apps. Some browsers support extensions thatprovide virtual keyboards for Myanmar and other scripts.

Unicode does not specify a keyboard arrangement, but leaves the keyboard or IME provider free to arrange the keyboard in the most natural way for the users. However, a Unicode font requires many fewer keys, because only one code point is needed for each diacritic.

PS Just to clarify, language support depends on the OS software, not on the hardware keyboard. So you can type Unicode Myanmar (or any other supported language) with any hardware keyboard that will connect to your ipad.

The right side which displays properly on my code editor isn't displaying properly on the browser, however on the left side is. This applies to any Burmese text. The text that I input with my keyboard doesn't display properly but the text that I paste does.

I'm currently using VS Code as my code editor and Myanmar 3 as my keyboard source. I know my Myanmar input works because I can type it and it shows properly on other sites such as facebook or twitter but it's just not encoding properly on the browser.

With less than a month left before the scheduled migration date, more and more ordinary users are starting to change the settings of their digital devices by installing new Myanmar Unicode keyboards. When the Zawgyi keyboard and font was invented by Myanmar developers in 2006, it made use of the visual typing and encoding method as one would write it on paper, rather than using logical linguistics and computer encoding conventions of Unicode. For many users, visual typing order was relatively easier to learn compared to earlier fonts.

When a fully functioning Unicode Myanmar text was to be supported in Windows and MacOS in 2011, many users were still reverting back to Zawgyi font and keyboard on their computers as by that time Zawgyi was already the most accepted Myanmar font by the population.

Since 2013, earlier Android OS versions had built-in native Unicode font to read Myanmar texts, but they lack a Myanmar keyboard. Thus, Zawgyi still remained a popular fix. Local mobile phone shops installed Zawgyi fonts and keyboards on new phones as part of their services to a vast majority of the population during the mobile phone boom in 2014. Meanwhile, some of the Android phones produced by China for the Myanmar market installed Zawgyi as the main font to supply popular demand.
