Since upgraded to Android 11 I can't send any voice messages at all in facebook messenger T.T I tried clearing cache, redownload and everything, all to no avail. Have you guys experienced this before?

I have an S22+ and ever since the update I've noticed that the last 8-12 seconds or so of voice messages that are either sent or I receive in the FB Messenger app end abruptly/go to zero. This is true only on my phone so far and only since the update was applied. (I sent a few that I could play back completely without issue today, before I updated around 10 AM). No issues on desktop PC.

Doesn't matter if I use the regular FB Messenger app or the lite version, it's the same problem. I'm wondering if maybe something in the recent update messed with a critical background OS process that handles playback of voice messages in the app?

The title pretty much says it but the raise to listen stopped working for voice messages in facebook messenger. I was able to listen a voice message only through the earphone speaker if I raised my iphone 12 on my ear but lately that doesnt seem to work. Whenever i m trying to do it, the voice message continues to play through both speakers and the screen won t even turn temporarily off like when you are on a call for example and you put the phone on your ear. I m not sure if it is messenger's fault or a setting that i ve missed. I reported it several times through the app but nothing has changed for about a month now.

It sounds like you can't hear an Facebook Messenger audio message when you raise the iPhone to your ear and we're happy to help! To isolate this problem, we'd like to know if this issue is happening with the Apple Messages app: Send photos, videos, and audio messages on iPhone.

Hi, I used to record voice memos and share them on messenger (bec they're usually higher in quality than messenger voice notes) but now when I share them I get an error message saying "Can't Send Message, Check your connection and try again" but my internet is pretty good, I tried sharing other files i.e photos from the photos app "same method" and it works. I tried offloading the voice memos app, reinstalling Messenger, and restarting my iPhone and resetting my network settings and nothing helps.

White knighting Apple? ??? There's no bigger hater than me. This just isn't their issue and I have no problem making that known. They have bigger fish to fry that compatibility with messenger. Give me a break.

Today I have installed android 12, the issue is the same. I'm not getting an error, it looks like it is recording, but the voice message is silent, no sound or words. The problem appears only if I use chat heads from messenger (chat bubbles doesn't work for messenger). If chat heads is off and I am opening the app each time I want to chat to someone, I don't notice the voice recording issue, i can send voice messages.

It looks like voice message recording works only the first time you open the app (when chat heads is ON, the moment you tap the chat head is not the first time you open the app, so it will fail, the message will be silent)...you have to close the chat head each time you face the problem and re-open Facebook messenger.

I have the following problem: since yesterday in facebook messenger whenever someone sends me a voice message, I plug my headphones in and play it, but for some reason the sound comes from the speaker. Before it used to play through the headphones without problems.

This has been happening to me as well. I Googled the issue and it turn out, that it may just be messenger's update. It started playing through my speakers after I updated, but my friend hasn't updated his and he can hear them through his headphones just fine. Your phone isn't to blame- it's just messenger's faulty update.

Facebook also announced that the voice message recording interface on Messenger is getting some new features, including pausing the recording of an audio message, replaying it before sending it, deleting it or resuming a recording, as shown in the image above.

In addition to text messages, it is possible to share memes, GIFs, stickers and ephemeral reactions. To activate this mode, simply open an existing discussion on Facebook Messenger and swipe up, the background turns black to indicate that you are in an ephemeral discussion.

Facebook Messenger is packed with functionality. You can send images, GIFs, files, and even money through Messenger. But did you know that you can also send audio in Messenger? Allowing you to record voice messages for your family and friends.

For a long time, sending an audio recording through Messenger meant recording in a separate app, copying the audio into a file, and sending the file. That was quite some time ago. It is now easier than ever to send a voice message in Messenger (and in Facebook Messenger Rooms).

There is one thing to remember before recording an audio message. If you're using Facebook Messenger on your desktop, you'll need a separate microphone to record your audio. Many laptops have an integrated microphone that you can use, although the audio quality can vary via this method.

Select the Microphone icon. A new box will appear with a red Record button. When you're ready to record your message, hit the Record icon, and begin speaking. Select the same button to finish your recording, or Cancel to delete the message.

Alongside the text input box at the bottom of your screen, select and hold the Microphone icon. With the Microphone icon held down, you can record your audio message. Once you let go of the Microphone icon, the audio recording will send. If you want to cancel the audio recording before sending, swipe the icon up before releasing it and sending the recording.

The previous section deals with sending a live audio recording on Facebook Messenger. How about if you want to pre-record your audio message, then send the audio recording in Messenger at a different time?

Select the Add Files icon, then browse to the location of your audio recording. Add a message explaining what the audio file is (if you want), then send the message. The file will upload to Facebook Messenger, where the recipient can download to listen.

Open the Facebook Messenger app, then browse to the person you want to send your audio message. Alongside the text input box at the bottom of your screen, select the Add Files icon. The Files options will appear below the text input box. From here, you can scroll through your files until you find your audio recording.

In August 2019, Facebook admitted that a team of contractors was transcribing audio messages. The goal was to check the working of its AI listening and transcribing system, which it uses to check the content of audio messages, and transcribe them for users if required.

In that, the issue is a wider representation of what can happen if you send audio messages through Facebook. A Facebook representative might not listen to your audio recording. But that recording is recorded and therefore becomes part of your Facebook identity.

There are many reasons why Facebook is a security nightmare. Including the way the social network hoovers up any data that comes its way. So, if you do use Facebook to send an audio message, stick to basic topics, and avoid discussing anything particularly sensitive.

On the plus side, Facebook Messenger offers an easy option for sending quick audio messages. You can send a short shopping list or a friendly reminder to your other half, or voice record an amazing idea and send it straight away without fiddling around with a voice recording app.

The maximum length of a voice message in Messenger is one minute. The app displays how long you\u2019ve been talking, so you can keep track of your message's duration. After one minute, the app will make a sound, and the recording will automatically stop. You can then choose to send it or delete it and record a new message if you aren\u2019t satisfied.Although this may be convenient for some, others may consider it too short.
