Updated to Eos Utility 3 on a Mac 10.9.4 using either a 5d or 6d with a USB cord. I can' find where in EOS Utility I can set it to record the file both to the laptop as well as in camera cards(CF or SD)? There is not the normal check box under Remote Shooting in the preferences .

Are there Canon Techs that browse this board - I know it's a simple question but I just can not figure out how to have the file saved on both the laptop as well as the Camera's card simultaneously using Eos Utiltiy 3

How To Download Memory Card To Laptop

The installation process for version 3 includes an installation of version 2. (This is made especially clear in the R2 version of the version 3 installer.) This is done because version 3 hands you off to version 2 if the camera you're using isn't a FF. So you shouldn't have to reinstall version 2 unless its latest version also has the "Save to card" feature removed.

What I would like to do is use a Windows laptop, USB cable and digital camera on a tripod. I would like for the camera to bypass its memory card (due to the volume of photos) and save right to the computer's hard drive. It would be great if the photo could immediately appear onscreen.

I have a sony DSCW55 cybershot camera with a photo card measuring approx. 30mm x 20mm. This seems too small for my laptop, the slot on which is approx. 24mm wide. Is there a simple device I can buy, which would "carry" the narrow card into the laptop slot? I would prefer not to have to use an external device and cable if possible. Have tried contacting Sony on their web page but no joy from them. Thanks in anticipation of your help.....

The memory card for the DSC-W55 is Memory Stick Pro Duo format and quite often, this particular design of card will not have a dedicated card slot on a laptop computer. However, you can purchase a USB card reader for under 10 such as this one:

These devices can be used with a huge variety of card formats from all sorts of devices, you may even be able to find a cheaper one which has fewer slots on it, there are various options available to you by googling 'USB Memory Card Reader'.

However, connecting by cable from camera to computer doesn't show so I bought a brands new USB 2.0 SD/MMC card reader and still it doesn't show, I am very upset as these photos are very special, what can I do ?

Hi, thanks for reply, I have the correct multi card reader bought from Amazon along with a new USB cable, the card reader says SD/MMC on the outer and yes, it is a DSC-S950 camera Blencogo

Hi, I don't know if you already found a solution but a colleague had the same problem and I believe she managed to retrieve the images from the card by inserting it in a Sony Walkman and uploading them to the computer from there.

My W270 also uses this narrow 'Memory Stick PRO Duo, but to get over the incompatibility with the card slot on my lap-top I use the cable which came with the camera. This slots into a USB on your PC. After connecting, you then go into 'this PC' and THEN turned on the camera . . . .

I've looked around the Wiki and sidebar links, but they mostly seem to be geared towards really extensive cold storage options. That's not quite what I'm looking for, but as far as I know there's no warm storage/sd card version of r/SuggestALaptop, so here I am.

Got a new laptop with 512 GB SSD built-in (Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5, if that matters; after software, I've got about 430 GB left). I know there are ways to upgrade storage within the laptop, but they involve tools and technical skills I do not have. I don't want to risk screwing up a brand new laptop and having to shell out half its cost to get it fixed. Most of what I want to store is not stuff I expect to access on a daily basis, so it doesn't need to live in my laptop anyway; predominantly TV shows, books, and movies. I expect I'll be accessing maybe a few times a month, mostly to watch/read, or occasionally play around in an entry-level video editors and/or Photoshop.

The only brand I know of before searching is SanDisk, which is presumably reliable given the thousands of Amazon reviews they all have - but also a bit on the pricey side, and even then there are multiple types of 1TB card. I'm not sure what would actually be worth the investment for my purposes, and what would just be overkill. I know there are other brands, but from poking around this sub it looks like there are also a lot of scam listings, too. (And I try to buy from places other than Amazon whenever possible, but I'm not sure where to start looking.)

Hello, My son's HP Stream laptop 14ax is running low on space and he can't even do a Windows update. I want to buy an SD card but I need advice about, if it's important, what is the maximum gigabytes SD card I can put into the slot. On a side where is a slot it says only "SD"? Can I use a memory stick to free up space so I can finally update Windows and my son can install new software? Thank You. Z

but will peform better. You can move music video docs, downloads to the SD card but not applications so how much free space you can make kind of depends on what is filling up the drive now. Have you tried a disk cleanup and select the "clean up system files" option?

I have tried it several times, but I am not able to get the needle to the end, because there is not enough space. Even with a second pin I am not able to get it out of the cardreader. On the other side are the contact pins and my needle gets stuck there.

I uses a very thin sharp knife slid it in the top of the card. Then I wiggled it from side to side. The right side then came out a little more eventuall wiggling it side to side and the left side released. I put it back in and had same problem so I threw the card out and new one worked fine. I believe it was catching on sides not top or bottom.

The needle method worked great for me once and have saved me again! I took a hot glue stick and some matches and stupidly decided to use this method and oh boy, oh boy, did i &&^& up. After clearing the two sides of the sd card slot i inserted the needles and used them like chopsticks and it worked

Is it okay if i store my games on a micro sd card from Samsung. I have a asus laptop with non-upgradable storage of 500gb which is not sufficient for my files and my games, and the laptop happens to have a micro sd card slot. I only need to play offline games (non-steam), so will a sd card be sufficient for that?

While you can, SD cards are generally very slow to read from. Which you will see as slow loading of anything. For keeping Steam library files and then moving them to internal SSD would be better. Also using SD for the mass storage option. Plus, the card gets hot in use.

And it get's me acceptable speeds. Still not the speeds you really want when loading up games, but way better than an SD card could ever give you.

Other than the fact that its still a removable device sitting on a port that isnt flushed, this would work. Just make sure you fashioned yourself a way to get it out of the way, attaching a velcro strip on both the HDD and the laptop is the one i found on the internet from - out of all people - Adam Ragusea.

Specific model number would be very favorable, because i have a Vivobook myself and that thing has a pretty generic M.2 2280 slot that you can slap any m.2 drives with. Same with the recent Pro 15, you have expansion option here. Maybe you have it mistaken with how the current Intel equipped laptop especially those running Iris Xe or Iris Pro graphics requiring integrated RAM package due to its massive bandwith constrains issue with SODIMM.

yeah i did look into type c external ssd but that would affect the portability and its a hassle to plug it in and unplug all the time, if sd cards are okay for playing some games im planning to leave it in all the time

M3500QC ,it was the ram that was soldered not the ssd my bad. just now only i searched abt it after watching this video the vendor that sold it to me told that both the ram and ssd were soldered, so i was a little skeptical abt buying this laptop as it had only a 500gb ssd. now i think i will go for a new m.s insted of a sd card. ThankYou!!

Yeah im blaming Macbooks for it. SSD somehow becomes always "soldered media" because Apple SSD is integrated straight to the mainboard with no way to upgrade at all, because they chase thinness and also that sweet service and data recovery fees. Its better to always second confirm everything about a laptop with a teardown or diagram of what is possible. 2351a5e196
